Some thoughts...

Well, since a "blog" is technically a web log, and I haven't done much journaling lately, I just wanted to take a few minutes to talk about how I've been feeling about the Virginia Tech shooting, and how lucky I am to have my family all around me. It's sad to think that so many innocent lives were taken, because of one very sick individual. It seems like it (shootings) are happening so frequently now, that I'm less and less shocked each time. Kind of like reading that the Lamanites or Nephites started to fall away from the church. "What? You're kidding me right?" Unfortunately, no. I feel so sad for those who are mourning over loved ones, and feel totally lost. I am grateful for the gospel, because it totally gives me a foundation of hope, peace, and tranquility--when it seems that the world is full of just the opposite. I'm also thinking about how optimistic President Hinckley is, and that even though this act of violence is indeed tragic, there are good people out there, and so much good is being done. I think it gets overshadowed by the tragedies. I'm so grateful to know that no matter what happens--I have loving family who supports me, and a loving Father in Heaven who is watching out for me, and is willing to offer solace when that is what we need. I really don't know where I'd be in this life, if it weren't for my knowledge that there is a Savior, who knows me, and a Plan of Salvation that provides happiness and hope for all who are willing to partake of it willingly. I am so blessed. I'd like to get involved somehow, to help the families of the victims--but I'm sure Heavenly Father is leading missionaries to their doorsteps, to offer them a message of love and of healing. In the meantime, I'll keep them in my prayers.

Raelynn,
This is Traci Peterson, one of Mae's good friends (bridesmaid). Not sure if you remember me, but I "blog hopped" to your site through Mae & Nate's blog. Just want to echo your Virgina Tech posting! I completely agree. It's certainly sad that shootings are becoming so mainstream these days; that we're almost desensitized to the repugnance and corruption. Thank goodness for the sweet peace of the Gospel.

BTW: Your boy is adorable. ;)
