American Idol Tour 2008
This is Syesha trying to introduce Archie. We wouldn't even let her talk...we just wanted him to come out, already!

Alright...I am ready to recap. I'll start from the top. I just have to give a fair warning that this post will probably be extremely gushy and ridiculous. So don't expect me to be mature, level-headed or use proper grammar/punctuation. (this is probably a good disclaimer for my entire blog, but whatever).
We get to the E center and I am VERY surprised by the number of guys there. It was a good mix. Lots of families (family night) and couples. And Danny worried about being the only guy...not a chance.
After some cheesy rep from Pop Tarts tried to get us excited about breakfast tarts, the fun began. First up: Chikezie. What a great way to start the show! He had tons of energy and his song choices were really fun. He is a good performer and fun to watch.
Ramiele--uh...what do I say? She was wearing the most idiotic outfit. She literally looked like cat woman...and not the cool one. She is like 3 feet tall and was wearing 5 inch heels. I kept waiting for her to fall and slide off the stage. Unfortunately, she didn't. She had cheesy choreography and didn't look comfortable on such a big stage. We were polite, but ready for MJ to come out.
Michael Johns--YEAH!! He was so much fun. All of the crowd was singing along with his songs and he got really into the music. I still can't believe he got voted off when he did. Lame. This was when the party really got underway. I mean, when you come on stage singing Queen...you're in for a good time.
Kristy Lee--I have to admit that I was VERY surprised at her set. She was entertaining, in tune and really good. She is better live than on TV and she was actually kind of adorable and I didn't find myself wanting to throw heavy objects at her. (I know...I know). She's already got a record deal, so I'm really curious to see how it sounds. She can definitely shake her hips and she is one big sparkle.

Carly--OH MY HEAVENLY DAY. Carly...She can sing like nobody's business. There were times when Danny and I just looked at each other like "whuuuuuuuuuuuut". She is a very intense and focused singer, but she was so good. Her voice has an incredible range and she was really working the crowd. I would pay money right now to go to her concert. Oh yeah, she has gone easy on the eye liner and she's actually very beautiful.

Brooke--She was ALSO much better LIVE. She has such a cute personality, and she's actually pretty funny. Some people felt like she was getting swallowed up in the huge building--but I didn't feel that way. I felt like she held her own, and her voice is so crisp and textured. When she sings a song right--she REALLY nails it. I totally loved her version of "yellow". She also entered the stage from the floor whilst playing "Let it Be" on the piano. Very cool. She is extremely talented.

Danny and I are looking for a place to get some water and I see Lupe Archuleta (David's mom). I had met her once before and I seriously adore this woman. She is so sweet and funny. She's the type of person you feel BFF with after one conversaton. She saw us and remembered both of us! I was wearing my Honduras shirt to support David (and her, heh) and she playfully started bowing towards me, telling me I was a sweetheart and gave me a hug. She had to rush off, but thanked me again for being so thoughtful and for saying hello to her. She is so petite and so beautiful. {Nerdy insert: the night we got home from the concert, I typed up a little paragraph about meeting Lupe, and how when I saw her she was wearing a t-shirt from the main fan site for David called Fanblast. I sent it in to the site and made the front page the next day. Yes, I'm showing you a link. I felt a little bit cool. I won't lie}.
Jason--His set was SO good. I really like Jason. I don't dig his hair--but his style is so different and so chill. I loved his version of Daydream, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. His 3 songs went by too quickly. In person, you can see how thin he is, but he seemed a lot more comfortable than he did on the show. He didn't say much inbetween songs and before I knew it--he was gone and Legs (I mean, Syesha) entered the stage.

Syesha--*sigh*. I'm not sure what to say about Syesha. She has a DANG good voice. She is basically Alicia Keys II. But I was REALLY uncomfortable with her appearance. Very short skirt, revealing top, backless, etc. I don't know--it was really distracting. It's hard to look at somebody's FACE when they sing when all you can see is their ahem--chest. I promise I'm not this judgemental about every day people...but you can tell she uses her sex appeal as a way to get attention...that doesn't impress me. You could tell the crowd was like "yeah, you're good...but where is DAVID?!"
Archie--He was ok I guess. But seriously--HOLY GOOD FREAK. We were immediately on our feet. This lasted for the rest of the concert. This kid has crazy talent. Hearing his voice LIVE was bliss. His voice is so calming and rich. Every crevice of the entire E center was full. He really projects when he sings. He was also MUCH more comfortable than he ever was on the show. He's got such a cute personality. He came out from the bottom of the stage playing "Angels". Yeah, I was teary eyed. What of it? Then he busts out "Apologize" and totally nails it. He talked a little bit and thanked us all for coming and being nice to his friends (ha!). Then he sang "Stand by Me" with the whole beatufiful girls part that was so controvercial. He even danced. Yes, he DANCED while singing. It was fun to see him so relaxed and into the music. After that, the crowd was HYSTERICAL. We wouldn't shut up. He was trying to thank us and say how much it meant to him that we had supported him from the beginning, etc. and he couldn't hold back his tears. It was a cool moment. He was so overwhelmed with everything that he was worried he wouldn't be able to make it through the last song. He did though--and it made ME cry. When You Say You Love Me. Move over Josh Groban. I'm not being dramatic--he was better than Josh. WOW. He was feeding off the energy of the crowd and was loving it. *Sigh* Amazing I tell you--amazing.
Cookie: I figured Archie would be a hard act to follow...but of course David rose to the occasion. He came out playing "Hello" by Lionel Richie. The sweet arrangement he did on the show. Yeah, the crowd went wild. It was such a different feeling between the Davids because they are SO different--but each one was so freaking fun to watch. Cook had us all singing along and dancing. This guy is a friggin' ROCKSTAR. He is a natural. He works the crowd, owns the stage and plays his guitar so hard you think it'll bust into peices. He was chucking picks (sp?) into the crowd and at one point fell to his knees and was just playing his guts out. It was AWESOME. He sang 5 songs and ended the show with a bang. I cannot WAIT to hear his album. What an entertainer. I loved his version of "Billy Jean" and "It's the World I know". He must be SO EXHAUSTED after every concert. You can tell he pours his entire being into the performance. They all did, actually.
The concert was basically the best 3 hours of entertainment I've ever had. It was like 10 mini concerts...and was SO worth every red cent. If you get a chance to go--you must go. You won't be sorry. There is a genre of music for everyone! We thought it'd be cool to try and get some autographs, so we waited out by the doors where they come out--but when 11:00 rolled around and they still hadn't shown up, we decided to leave. Of course by the time we were almost to the car, we heard a ROAR of cheering and realized that we had just missed it! DANGIT. Oh well...the concert was enough for us. I'm telling you...this season is going to be HARD to beat.
Wow, that was an epistle. I am going to bed now. If your'e still reading--well done.

*Sorry the videos are choppy. The batteries were low and we had to be picky with what/how much we recorded. It will at least give you an idea of how it sounded...*

I love your analogy of Aloe vera. Very descriptive and dead on.
The talent this last year was just incredible. How are they ever going to top that? Seriously.. the two Davids will go down in my book as the best finale ever.
