10 Years

One of the things that I SWEAR I didn't know about being a Senior Class Officer {In High School} is the fact that we would be in charge of reunions. I probably would have run to be an SBO instead if I knew how much work it was going to be. Luckily, I had some great help and it turned out to be the perfect night {minus some undercooked steak}. We had our 10 year High School reunion at Gardner Village in West Jordan and it was a great location. The ambiance there is wonderful and it made it easy to decorate--it was very minimal. We had some great banners made by the Student Body banner EXPERTS. Val and I were on the phone or instant messaging each other all day long for the last week of the event. It's amazing how many different things need to be coordinated. A lot of the work came from maintaining the website and organizing the raffle {which turned out to be a smashing success}. There are way too many people to list that helped contact classmates, donate to the raffle, help with the slideshow, create a memorial for those classmates that have passed away, and give of their time and skills to make this reunion come together. I kept promising myself that I would never want to help with the next one--but now that it's over and I had so much fun that night, I would definitely help again. But somebody else can be in charge--thanks!

It was so fun to see old friends and get reacquainted with people I haven't seen in such a long time. Val and I could pretty much take over the world if we needed to :)

We had a lot of help at the check-in desk and we even gave out awards to people who were extraordinary in one way or another. After sorting through all the questionairres to decide who should win each award, we discovered that I had had the most jobs since High School. EMBARRASSING. I have had 14 jobs since HS. And I start a new job on Tuesday. So make it 15. I had to convince everyone that I could actually hold a job down--most of them were just temps or part-time gigs while I was in college. After accepting my award we joked that it would have been really funny if I had asked if anybody was hiring.

The day after the reunion we were able to pull of a complete MIRACLE. We were able to get 5 of the busiest people in the world in the same restaurant, at the same table, for the same meal. I'm telling you--this is a big deal. Janet, Val, me, Natalie and Heidi. Not only are we all really busy, we live in 3 different states! We had a great lunch at the Olive Garden and had a chance to really talk. These are friends that you can go years without seeing and when you see them again it's like time hasn't really passed at all. Of course, it helps that we all blog and can keep on each others' lives that way...but it's so nice to just sit and talk about real things and not just day-to-day small talk. Thanks for a great time ladies. Here's to many more lunch outings when we are all in the same state!

It sounds like the reunion was a smashing hit! I am so sad that Brad and I did not even hear about it until the night of the reunion...and at nearly midnight, none the less. Thanks to Kristen, I found the website, but it was too late. Doh! We could have taking Brad Sailor off your lost list...
So glad to see that life is treating you well!!

Thanks for all your work! We had a great time. My steak was cooked just right, but we were like "Gravy?? On steak? Where's the A1?"

Totally not your fault.
