Annual Miller Campout

We love Mirror Lake. We go every year as a family. It's always a bummer if we have to miss it...but this year we were lucky enough to go. It was a huge lifesaver for me because I was about to lose my mind from the busyness of reunion planning, packing, moving, selling furniture, trying to sub-lease our apartment and make time to be a good mom. It's so beautiful and relaxing up in the Uintahs. Aside from the fact that it rained ALL day on our second day--we had a blast.

We spent some time out on the lake in the canoe that my Grandpa Egan made BY HIMSELF. He is a talented man, that Grandpa of mine. Cole was "one" with the water in no time. He took it upon himself to try to jump out of the canoe just as I was taking a picture of him. I know nothing bad would have happened because he had the life jacket on, it's just unnerving to me that he is so comfortable out in the middle of a lake. Shouldn't kids be afraid of stuff like that?!

Grandpa was a cooking fiend. And Grandma was so good to take care of the boys while they were in the tent trailer (while we were out in the rain saving the day).

Cole and Spencer played like champs. Which was good--they were completely unaware that soon they would live about 2 hours away from each other. After seeing each other almost every day, I think it's been a weird adjustment for them.

Seriously--it's so beautiful!!

We had some fun with some MASSIVE marshmallows that were purchased at some Mexican Market (seriously they were the size of baseballs before being cooked). They were pretty flammable and after being cooked, became the size of softballs. Don't worry--my dad DOES have marshmallows stuffed in his shirt. My dad is a lot like me. Don't dare him to do something unless you REALLY want him to do it! And the air at that altitude doesn't allow for much common sense. :)

Sidenote: In the picture of the rainy day...there is a shot of where our tent was supposed to be. The campsite just next to my parents opened up the day we were coming up and they snagged it just in time. We ended up being on the top of a hill instead of in the valley of the mud and filth. That's not to say it wasn't wet and dirty--just a little less so :)
