Is it bad that I don't care?

I feel like MJ has been dead for a while now. He hasn't' actively been releasing albums or touring (that I know of) and has turned into a weirdo recluse. I am NOT disputing the fact that he is a legend and one of the greatest performers of all time, but I just don't really care that he died. I'll listen to his music because it's cool but like I said--it's not a big deal to me that he's not alive anymore. All good things must come to an end...and all multi-cosmetic surgeries must also come to an end.

i just barely found out. i'm kinda sad. mostly because he lead such a weird life and i'm guessing that all his fame and fortune didn't really get him the life he wanted/needed. long live mj.
Maybe those of us who are a little bit older and were more impressionable during his explosive time are affected more by this than you would be. It is sad to me, he was bigger than almost anything when he was in his prime. I've never seen anyone even approach the influence he has had since. He wasn't just the king of pop music, he was the king of pop culture. Maybe some of our parents who remember Elvis dying can relate a bit, but I don't know if he even had that big of a global cultural influence. I honestly found that I was more affected by this than I thought I would be. He was a freak in his latter years, for sure, but he was a talent that I don't know we'll ever see matched.

You've got a point there. I am definitely not the age group that was so affected by his music. I probably sound like I'm a total jerk but like I said, he has been so "out of the loop" of things he might of well been dead because we didn't hear/see much of him. IF he had died in his prime, I'd be MUCH sadder about it. He definitely left behind a legacy and a lot to be proud of...I just am not surprised.

I totally agree with you RaeLynn- My personal opinion is he needed alot more therapy and a little less spotlight - I just can't adore someone who had an unhealthy fascination with young boys (even if other crimes weren't "proven")- I don't care how good he sang or danced or WHATEVER. He had talent, but his God given talent wasn't used for God driven pursuits, especially the last couple of decades. Ahhh well. I agree with you- I am not shook about this in the LEAST! I have sympathy for his family who loved him, but to his fans I say, (ever so gently ;)....get over it!

It is sad to hear someone who has the truthfulness of the gospel in their life to say "I just don't really care that he died"

I hope they never say anything like about you or a loved one when they pass...

Anonymous, are you really that afraid to tell who you are?

What does having the gospel in my life have to do with not caring that someone died? If anything it means that I know he's alive and that his loved ones WILL see him again. I'm not sure I'm following your argument...

I don't care either.

Having said that, I plan on rocking out at my best friend's birthday party tonight and hoping that "Thriller" or "Beat It" come on because I LOVE THOSE SONGS.

To anonymous, I say having the gospel in our lives we should be saying that we are extremely happy for him that he died. Right? He's out of the obvious misery he was living in?
But, I have to say that five or six people texted me yesterday to tell me he died. To be funny I texted Lacie (Tiana's sister) and told her. Her reply was "Sweet, now maybe his kids will actually have a chance at a normal life." Sad, but true.

Oh Lacie...lol.

I'm sad. I loved him. If it weren't for Justin Timberlake, I think I'd be absolutely inconsolable.

Love you MJ.

If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all.

I don't think it's a generational thing-- nor do I think someone needs to die in their prime in order for their life/music to have an impact on the world.

This may be the only topic Dee and I happen to agree on. Long live Michael.

Meh. I didn't say he didn't have an impact on the world...I just said I don't care.
