Best. Christmas. Concert. Ever.
Yeah, I know this was over a month ago--but I just barely recovered from the emotional shock. It basically rocked my world :) I stole some of these pics from deseretnews.com, just so you know...
Somehow with the bazillion requests for tickets, my friend Melissa's Mom got chosen from the lottery so she took Melissa, Danny and myself. Heaven.
Cameras weren't allowed during the concert and even though we wanted to be naughty, we respected the rules (mostly) so here are some from before:
We started off with dinner at Little America. Our waitress was less than desirable which caused us some great inside jokes for the rest of the night (well, and to this day, actually). We nicknamed her Doris because it just fit. It just seemed right.
We kind of took a billion pictures inside the Conference Center while trying to get the lighting right (and to show how awesome our seats were).
Danny had to work late so he met us downtown just as we were walking through the doors. We went Friday night and had major warnings from everyone who went on Thursday. We were told to get there EARLY. So early we were :)
Naturally the choir sounded amazing and even though I wasn't familiar with all of the songs, I still enjoyed them. David was so handsome and cute. It's been funny to hear about how many people became "David Converts" from the concert. I know a lot of people weren't thrilled with the choice of having him as the special guest but I think most people (if not all) were pleasantly surprised and maybe even shocked at how well he sounded. When people hear David Archuleta, they think of American Idol...teeny boppers and pop music but his voice was made to sing Christmas music and I'm sure it will always be a highlight of his career. Turns out they (Mr. Mac) tried to get David as the special guest the December after American Idol ended but it didn't work out. I think it's for the best because he's had some time to hone his skills and improve his stage presence.
The whole night was so classy and uplifting. The Spirit was so strong and David hit some "glory notes" that knocked my socks off. There is nothing like hearing the MoTab Choir in the Conference center so to add David to the Choir was (in my opinion) a perfect combination. It was such a great experience and I'm so grateful that I got to be a part of it.

Standing in line...it was COLD.

Okay we snuck one picture at the end...

His eyes sparkled all night and he was so happy.
I wish I would have gotten a picture of President Monson straightening his bow tie...

You WILL want to watch the program next year when it airs on PBS.
My SIL's father works at the Conference Center (as an usher I believe) and got a signed program. Supposedly he got it for me but we both think he has a guy crush on David :) Either way, I think it's really sweet of him...I'm not sure what to do with it--but I scanned a picture of it.
