All about contacts
So. I'm working this new job...I love it. I have been 100% impressed with this company from my very first interview. This is the kind of company that people don't leave because they aren't being treated properly. From what I gather, EVERYone who has previously worked there stayed for a long time and speaks nothing but praise about the company and the people there. The employees are downright spoiled...and I am totally okay with that :)
This first week of training has been INTENSE. We've been learning all about the different types of contacts, how the eye works, learning the database (which is semi-complicated) and the major aspects of customer relations. We've had two tests and have lost 2 people from our training class of 18. They take this very seriously. Our welcome packet said that they only hire 5-10% of all applicants so I feel very blessed to be a part of this company.
I'm not going to be working in the call center but I have to complete training for it before moving on to training for the position I was hired to do. After an order is placed, I'll be verifying prescriptions with the eye doctor, working on faxes and releasing orders that have some sort of hangup. I think it's cool that we do that for every single order. The customer service we offer is insane. Honestly, I worked at Franklin Covey back in the day before everyone had electronic devices and I thought we had pretty dang good customer service. This place trumps it. It's impressive.
The one thing that does overwhelm me is the amount of info. we have been learning. It is very fast paced and the training is 4 weeks long! One of my favorite things is that they have an onsite restaurant which is subsidized so the meals are ridiculously cheap (they also have chefs that are the real deal, not just line cooks). Yesterday, for example, I had a veggie burger with tomato, lettuce, red onions and other fixins with a side salad and drink. $1.00. Yep. It's all just payroll deducted so I don't have to carry cash or constantly be swipin' the 'ol debit card. We get free cereal, fruit, drinks of all kinds, rolls, bagels, etc.
There's an onsite workout facility with 4 personal trainers who will do a physical analysis and cater a training program just for you (obv. isn't that what the title means?)
Our trainers are awesome. We get a lot done but we have an awesome time. OH. And I get to wear jeans to work everyday. SAAAWEEEET. Honestly, I am so excited to be working at 1-800-Contacts. One week of training down and 6 more to go! :)
Oh, and thanks to Danny's sister Amy, who is our babysitter :) Cole loves her and I'm totally comfortable leaving him with her. She's extremely competent...and has even done some dishes for us. She's a keeper for sure.

Is Byron still the head chef? I'm so happy that they are still a GREAT company! =)
