5 Reasons Facebook needs to go and 4 reasons I guess it can stay.
1- It's a colossal time waster. Once I get on, I get sucked into the world of viral videos, giveaways, articles on how I should be a different kind of Mom than I really am, {wear a sling, eat organic, 5 things to never say to your kid, etc.}, political banter which I don't care to contribute to, quizzes about what character from _____ you are and lots of contention over anything and everything which makes me uncomfy. I've been guilty of most of these.
2- It's a way for me to compare my weaknesses to other peoples' strengths. I don't need more of that in my life right now. I need LESS of that.
3- It's not Instagram which in my opinion is superior :)
4- It has replaced blogging {for the most part} but I LOVE to read blogs and blogging is way more therapeutic for me than adding a vague status update like "Wow! Didn't see that coming!"
5- If I don't post on FB about my workouts, that workout becomes invalid. We don't want that!
See you 'round on "The Book" because apparently I don't have the self control to ditch it altogether {although I have drastically decreased my time and I'm loving it}.
Of course there are a few good things about FB. Fine, I'll mention them to balance out my snarky post:
1- I've been able to re-connect with old friends.
2- If it weren't for FB, I wouldn't know about half the babies, weddings, parties or family events going on around me.
3- It has helped us spread the word about Danny's cakes which we are both very grateful for.
4- When feeling down or discouraged I have had a friend post a hilarious quote their child said or shared an uplifting thought or video that really lifted me up.
I guess it 'aint all bad but dangit. I need to look at it less. All things in moderation. I've considered just deleting it off my phone and just looking at it from my desktop since I spend a significant less amount of time there. That's all.
