More cakes

Danny is getting more serious about his side business of cakes and has been doing quite a few lately. It's been fun to see how different they all are depending on what the bride {usually it's a wedding cake} or person wants. We did a cake for Kayla's blessing day with some left over fondant and cream cheese & raspberry filling from a wedding cake. I think it turned out really cute. I really can't emphasize how much work goes into such a simple looking cake. I've heard some people talk about how easy it is to bake, cut, fill, frost and cover a cake. It's really not that easy unless you've done it several times. And then there's the design elements that are really what make it fun.

I just think Danny has such a natural ability and gift for this. We're hoping to hear back on some fun news this week. Until then--I probably shouldn't say much. Lately I make an announcement and then something doesn't' work out and I feel dumb. So, lesson learned. Just enjoy the cakes :)

This cake took forever. The fondant lace was a mold that he had to freeze, peel out and then cut out with a blade and then stick it on to the fondant. It was the first time he had done anything like this and I love how it turned out. The bride wanted it to look like the back of her dress with the beads and I think it is awesome!

This cake ended up so colorful and fun. We almost walked into the wedding ceremony at the JSMB because we were a little bit lost as we were looking for the room that the reception was going to be in. The cakes that have flowers always come together so beautifully. I'm always a little sad when the brides don't have cake toppers. I don't know why I care, it's not my wedding! I just love how it makes the colors pop. Serious eye candy here.

We hope to get a website up and running soon and he's going to be putting together a portolio. It would be really, really great if he could get back into the food industry and get back into doing what he loves!
