Caleb turns ONE!

We celebrated Caleb's birthday in portions. Since it falls on Grandma White's birthday too, we celebrated at White Family Dinner {on Cole's actual birthday}.

I sent out invites a couple weeks in advance to have a party over at our place for Caleb but the weather was looking dreary and I know it'd be too crammed to have both sides of the family over at the same time so we celebrated with Whites on Sunday and the Millers on Oct. 3.

Had to block out the address so all you crazy people who have been invited to read this blog don't try to egg our house or something...

On his actual birthday, I had to work and it was really low key. I think we sang Happy Birthday to him but I honestly don't remember. Wow, that's pathetic. We made up for it though!

On the day of his party, I had been running around like a crazy person trying to get a bunch of errands done. I wanted everything to be perfect. In reality, I know it didn't need to be but you only get to turn one once {obv} and I wanted it to be special. We did an "Under the Sea" themed party on a budget and with very little printer ink left. Phew! We pulled it off.

I blame Pinterest...

Even though he didn't fully understand what was going on--he was happy and excited to have so many guests loving on him.

Smash Cake

Cousin Hide-out

Caleb was totally overwhelmed with the cake. He didn't want much to do with it so Julia helped him along here and there {while I took pictures} and we finally just gave him a cupcake which he slowly ate. It was pretty anti-climatic but he's one, so I can't blame him for not understanding the deliciousness that comes with one of Danny's cakes :)

After the presents and cake, we were sitting around visiting and the kids had been in Cole's room for a while making a lot of noise and having a lot of fun. A little while later, they came out and said they had a play to perform. I had to read a handwritten script which was provided to me and it was essentially narrating what each character was supposed to do. They had so much fun doing it and that's where the idea came to do another one for the fish pond.

I love this little man to pieces. He is such a light in our home. He is low-key and easy going {unless he has 4 teeth breaking through his gums at the same time and then it's a different story} and he is exactly what our family needs. I'm so grateful that we were blessed with the two beautiful boys that we have.

Also, I still can't believe they almost shared birthdays. Even though they're only one day apart, I'm glad they ended up having their own special day.
