Our Freakin' Sweet Yard Sale
Anthony and Brittany show off their books of choice :)
Britt was my trusty cashier girl.
This customer was hilarious. She said she was going to take a picture of our yard sale sign and email it to her sister in Missouri to show her how we role in Utah. That's my kind of girl. She even played along for the picture (which I mentioned would end up on our blog). She was a great sport. Note the fanning out of her bills.

Over the weekend we had a yard sale that totally rocked. (Yes, I just typed that). We needed to satisfy two goals: make some money, and get rid of junk. It was the perfect solution. Yard sales are a lot of work--and this one wasn't any different. I only wish I had busted out my camera earlier so I could catch a few of the following things:
~ My SIL Emily helping keep an eye out...and doing a little haggling :)
~ The cranky old man who was disgusted with me for not selling everything he wanted for 10 cents.
~ My dear friend Jenna who was up until the wee hours of the morning helping me get everything organized, priced and ready to go.
~ How many people showed up!
We had a great turn out and our prayers were answered (quite literally) when we counted the cash box at the end of the sale. We had several people come by without any intention of buying anything, they just wanted us to know how cool our sign was--and they ended up buying stuff! It was great. Marketing majors--you may want to take notes. Just add the word "freakin'" in front of something, and it'll catch the eyes of every onlooker. I also have to quickly add this hilarious story: some guy picked up this BRAND NEW copy of "How to Win Friends & Influence People"...it was literally never even opened, and we were asking $4, since it sells for $8, and it was new--he held it up and shouted to me, "$4 for THIS?" (I can't adequately describe the look of loathing and disgust that he had on his face as he asked me this question, which was more of a statement. I was on the phone with Danny at the time, and knew he was going to give me a hard time, and I was tired and didn't feel like dealing with it...so I replied "how much do you want to pay me for it?" He quickly retorted with "Not 4 dollars thats for dang sure!!" And he chucked the book down and stomped off. Looking back, my only regret is that he probably really needed that book based on his interaction with me. He sure didn't win me over as a friend or influence me for good....that's for dang sure.
Anyway, I mostly just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped out. There were lots of people (you know who you are) that donated things for us to sell, and Danny and I are both extremely grateful for your generosity. We sure feel loved in this ward, and by our family and friends who were willing to help us out. You might not know how important this sale was to us--but we'll never forget it.
