Why didn't they tell me?

You are going to love Tuesdays. From now on...Tuesdays are the new Fridays. I've been going through a bunch of pictures since the move and I have found some priceless treasures. Most of them involve me looking gross but I figure I should spread the joy of laughter into your lives. They're just too good not to share. So, I introduce to you--"Why didn't they tell me?"

This will basically involve me showing you nasty pictures of myself/friends (heh) and wanting feedback on WHY no one told me that what I was wearing/doing was NOT socially acceptable. I believe that as human beings we all need to look out for each other. Apparently--no one was looking out for me during my teenage years...I have pictures to prove it.

In case you think I'm serious--this is all light hearted fun...I just seriously needed to share the laughs.

Captions:

Top: We had no idea what "rainbows" meant with respect to orientation. Don't worry--at girls camp all 3 of us (Mary Hind, Amy Hirschi & myself) wore rainbow bandanas and shared a tent for 5 days. Hmmmmm. We were also inseperable.
Bottom Left: Is there anything in this picture that is NOT alarming? The braces, the big round glasses, the BANGS, the fact that we are holding hands and clinging to each other...
Bottom Right: The fact that I am wearing a SWEATER in June with denim shorts. It may have been a chilly night--but come on. A sweater?!?! I hold every last one of you in this picture responsible!

Please oh please enlarge this to get the full effect...

I love this! We all have those pictures, but good job being brave enough to share them! I LOVE the bangs! I had the big bangs, round (plastic brown) glasses, and braces too! But, look at your hot legs in the sweater picture! That's got to make up for something. Keep the pictures coming!

I didn't have the glasses. But I DID have the perm, bangs, and braces...and in HighSchool hand-holding, giggling and skipping down the halls were a MUST! (shudder) Just the thought of me in my WJHS days makes me get the chills.

The bad kind of chills.

Those bangs are AMAZING! It's like an inverted waterfall.

The fashions of the previous decade always become hugely unacceptable as we reach the latter end of the current decade. By today's standards, yes, everything you point out is horrid, but in the 90's you were frickin' sweet!

I love it. Of course we didn't tell you because we all had the same hair. There is a website called yearbook yourself. you should do it. I promise it will make you laugh.

Omigosh! I know I will be featured in the segment because I was with all the time AND I was a big nerd. Anywho... I remember Tracey teasing me about the bandanna's but it went over my head. Ha!
Oh you are the bravest soul I have ever met. I have those kinds of pictures, and they will remain hidden until the second coming.

Looks like you weren't the only one without someone looking after them. And believe me, I tried to tell Mary countless times what a nerd she was. LOL

Well... Raelynn, I read but don't comment much, but could NOT resist pointing out in the camp picture that there is also the classic socks-with-sandals faux pas as well. It is a real winner.
(PS Thanks for letting me peek into your blog life!)

Just wait Erin...just kidding, I don't think I have any dirt on you. Amelia--HAHAHA!! I didn't even notice that I was wearing socks with sandals. Heck yes!! Even better :) I'm so glad you caught that.
ok...I am so proud of my nerdy past...what is not to love about old school fashion and rainbow ignorance.

So funny! I've asked my mom a few times why in the world she let me out of the house wearing some of the things I did. Ugh! What was she thinking & what was I thinking?

To answer your question: Nobody told you because Nobody else got it either. (see pics above- you were not the only hilarious one). And, we all have em- and we were all equally clueless.

Good on ya! Go look at my sisters blog- she has a picture of herself in docs with loose fit jeans, a polo, and YES- big old wool socks. It doesn't get much worse!
