Trip to Nampa

Last weekend we took a much needed road trip up to Nampa, Idaho to visit with family. It was just the ticket. We got to spend quality time with family and had a lot of fun. The weather didn't cooperate the entire time but we didn't mind. It was a nice change of scenery and I swear to you that I could live there. Everybody that I talked to was so nice! And the Walmart wasn't busy...and there were no screaming children. It was shocking, actually. Cole has found a new love for dogs. "Annie the dog" as Cole calls her has captured his heart and he talks about how we need to get a dog but there is no way that will happen anytime soon. He's trying to coerse the cats to sit, heel, get off, come etc. and they aren't following his every command...Oh the trauma. Here are some highlights of the trip:

Portable DVD players. We got it several years ago and it was blessed our lives numerous times :) I highly recommend them when travelling with kids. It makes me think about how in the world my parents travelled with us as kids. Did we actually have to talk to each other or sing in the car? Tragic.

They have a lake like 5 minutes from their house. Yes, 5 minutes. It was so peaceful and pretty. It was relaxing (when we weren't chasing Cole around).

We were in great company. We love these guys.

Cole was in heaven because he got to learn how to use a slingshot (Thanks Uncle Brian), throw rocks in the lake and have Annie run after them and wade in the cold water. Paradise for a 3 year old.

However, the bugs got pretty bad on the way to the car. Since Cole was the highest thing in our group, he took the brunt of the bugs. He couldn't even keep his eyes or mouth open because they were swarming around his head. Poor little guy.

Cole had fun with Ellie. I think he was bored with her when he realized that she couldn't run after him, tickle him and obey his rules but he was very gentle and loving with her. He'll be a good big brother someday.

How's this for cute? Cole pretty much wanted nothing to do with us all weekend. He wanted to be with Brian the entire time. He followed him around, constantly asked where he was, wanted to hold his hand and had to be with him at all times. I'm not sure how Brian survived the weekend with the velcro version of Cole but Cole was loving it.

I love this post. I am tempted to copy and paste to my blog. Such a fun weekend! I think you guys should make another trip this summer and we'll float the Wild Boise River. Cole would love it.
