Moving & Such
Gosh, where do I even start? I wish I had some great pictures to show because everyone knows a blog post without pictures is kind of lame. Dah well. This is for my peeps (not the marshmallow kind) who are wondering if we survived the move).
We actually planned on moving on Saturday morning but it came down to only being able to have 3 people to help us move which we were a little worried about with us living on the 3rd level of the apt. complex...I knew people were going to be tired and didn't want to injure anyone. heh. So we ended up loading the truck up on Friday night with the help of my Dad, Danny's Dad and Danny's brother Scott and sister Amy. We were also able to recruit some extra help from my teaching partner's husband and her 3 kids. They were like these strong little minions that could sprint up and down the stairs before I could blink. They were such a HUGE help!! I think about 2/3 of the way into the truck getting packed, energy started to die (can you seriously blame them? Think about all those steps?? I felt so bad) and the missionaries showed up. Hallelujah. I loved their enthusiasm and willingness to serve total strangers. Things went really smoothly and the only thing left in the apt when everyone left was our mattress and some cleaning supplies. We slept great Friday night and woke up early to finish up all the little random things.
Getting unloaded went smoothly too. We even had a neighbor come over and bring his teenage son to help us. Willie, Amanda, Danny's brother Brian and his wife Emily showed up along with our Friday night helpers. Moving in was MUUUUCH easier than moving out :) It was done in less than an hour. After the truck was dropped off we had lunch at Gma White's house and then went straight to Gma Miller's house for an easter egg hunt. We packed a lot of stuff into one day but we managed to survive!
I always feel so guilty when we move because I know it's SUCH a hassle for everyone and especially the movers. I feel kind of lame giving people a pastry and a Gatorade for all the hard work they do because I wish I could have taken them all out to dinner to say Thank You.
Danny has worked so hard this past week (so have I...heh) and he was SO tired on Sunday. The truth is, we wanted to sleep all day and just get caught up on our rest...but instead we went to our new ward. We are really excited! Everyone was so great and friendly and there are a lot of little kids really close to our place who are Cole's age which is exactly why we wanted to move (besides having more space). I definitely feel like this is a place we can have a more stable life and give Cole the things he needs at his age and that brings both Danny and I a lot of comfort.
Now that last week is over (I never thought it would come) we are scurrying around trying to get as unpacked as we can because this Saturday we are headed to CALIFORNIA, BABY!! We'll be hitting up the beach, Disneyland and whatever else we feel like doing. This is the best thing to do after a move :) But before Saturday we have soccer practice, a soccer game, a fieldtrip to the zoo, going back to the apartment to clean and turn in our keys, work for both Danny and I and something else I can't think of right now...
So we've definitely got our work cut out for us but we are looking forward to getting away from real life for a week. Saturday can't come soon enough!!
Also, I have a crush on our landlord's dog. He looks like Lassie and is the CUTEST thing ever. Cole is excited to have a dog now :)
