Cali Trip Part 3
Wednesday
This was a "day of rest" for us and we wanted some down time to just relax. We slept in, hung around the hotel for a bit, took our time getting ready and then drove to the L.A. Temple. I love the temple grounds there--I wish we had palm trees in Utah! The visitor's center there is new and it's so cool and interactive. We went in and watched a special movie on the Family in this room that was simulated to look like a real family room and the movie would rotate screens throughout the room.
One of the sister missionaries has a 5 year old nephew named Cole who looks just like our Cole so she was kind of freaking out. I love Cole's face in the picture where she's talking to him. She also mentioned that their area is pretty ritzy. The Playboy Mansion is in her proselyting area. Didn't you know Hugh Hefner was Mormon? :) Also, Aaron Eckhart (known as Two Face in the latest Batman movie) is on the ward roster in her current ward. Kind of funny.
I'm a nerd and took a picture of our rental car. A Dodge Avenger. It's fun to drive a different car for a week. It was a smooth ride.
We had to honor the "stars" by driving by the Kodak Theater (American Idol finales are usually held there) and the Grauman's Chinese Theater place with all the stars on the side walk. I wish we had time to get out and walk around--plus there was no wheelchair around to rent... :) Then we drove around up in the "hills". It's crazy how big some of the houses are. What do these people do to make so much money??? Are they married to their jobs? Do they work as hard as their maids? How the heck do you afford living that lifestyle?
