Baby Steps
We are chugging right along. And I do mean chugging. After the first week of "wow, I love my job", the reality of our new situation has settled in. I am gone most of the day. I'm kind of struggling with it. My time is suddenly sucked away into commuting and working. I went from having all day, everyday to a few hours in the morning. It's hard to balance that time between spending it with Cole, making time to exercise, clean up messes from the night before and get ready for work. I'm an optimistic person so I know it'll get easier but this has been harder than I anticipated it would be. To make a long story short--before I get to train for the position I was hired for, I have to finish training for the call center. I don't like training for the call center and it has been stressful on me. I have nothing but respect for everyone who works there. It can be stressful and there's a ton to remember and a lot expected of each person there. I'm starting to see why they're so picky about who they hire. Major props to all of them. I'm hoping I can skip the next 2 weeks and get on to where I want to be :) Danny gave me a blessing tonight and I'm feeling much better about getting through the next couple weeks and about being gone so much and leaving Cole during the day...I've been fighting some guilt with that but I know I'm doing it for the big picture and I'm at peace with that.
Yesterday Danny and I went to a cooking class at Thanksgiving Point. It wasn't just a regular cooking class, though. It was sponsored by The Cancer Project and we learned how to make some really easy, yummy HEALTHY foods that are proven to prevent cancer. I have a couple friends who are vegan and while I don't know that I could really commit to eating that type of lifestyle, I do find lots of truth to what they believe. I don't like eating a lot of meat and I do think there's a lot to be said about eating a plant-based diet. If it grows in the ground, it's good for you. (Unless it's poison, right?) Tonight we had fajitas (made from scratch from Danny), a yummy bean/veggie dip and applesauce cookies. We're trying to make an effort to eat more fresh food and while it's hard and I know we won't be perfect at it--it's worth trying. Little choices can turn into big changes so here's hoping for some healthy change :)
