The 4th of July
Some holidays stress me out a little because there are so many things planned and so many options for what to do that it's a little overwhelming. this is one of those holidays for some reason. We decided to simplify a bit and just do our own thing during the morning/day and then join the Andersons and Whites for the evening festivities. We started off with some art.
And something outside {can't remember what but I had to include this picture}.
We decided to hit up the Riverton Carnival that was advertised in the mail. It was a total bust and a total waste of money. Dang. Tickets were expensive and everything cost way too many tickets. Cole was afraid of 99% of the rides and it was SO. DANG. HOT. Danny and I decided to go on one of the rides that looked pretty fun and Cole said he wouldn't go on. It's a good thing he didn't because Danny and I were both sick! I was screaming the entire time that I had greatly underestimated how intense the ride would be. I felt woozy for a good 10 minutes afterwards.
I used the last few tickets to go down the big yellow slide by myself.
Family selfie where we pretend like we're not drenched in sweat and that we're actually having a blast!
I was glad to get to Grandma and Grandads and enjoy some good 4th of July food. There were a lot of people missing this year which felt really weird.
More glow sticks for the ones who were there... I happen to love the glow stick tradition.
I think my favorite part of the entire day was watching Brad and McCall send off this awesome lantern that they got for their wedding. It was just a little cheap thing made in China. There were no instructions on it so they figured that you just lit the cardboard inside on fire and it would slowly expand and lift off into the air. It worked. I think everyone's hearts were pounding that it wouldn't light a tree on fire or hit a rooftop and somehow explode but it went safely up into the sky and slowly disappeared.
