Time for an update

We had loads of fun being off-track and I'll have to update our adventures later. It seems like my last few posts have been bullet points so that I don't fall totally behind and this will probably have to be one as well.

* Our ward is splitting on Sunday. We all suspected it was coming soon. I'm looking forward to a smaller ward so I can get to know more people. I taught Relief Society on Sunday for maybe the last time. They're turning 2 wards into 3 so who knows where we'll end up. I could end up having Jeremy Sorensen as my Bishop which would be pretty funny.

* Cole is back in school and I recently had a meltdown about his education experience. I am concerned about the class sizes at his school (and surrounding schools in the district). There is so much growth out this way and he has 32 kids in his class on the LEAST popular track. That will likely be higher next year. The most popular track has 35 kids. It's insane. Most people out this way don't seem to think it's a big deal but it's a big deal to ME. I'm praying about what would be best to do for Cole next year.

* The Nissan died. We have now laid to rest 3 cars in 11 years of marriage. We win.

* My dizziness is improving with several different approaches. Last night I took an at-home sleep test to rule out sleep apnea. I slept horribly because I had to sleep on my back. We'll see what the results come back with.

* The countdown is ON for our vacation. We're getting giddy.

* My parents sold their house! Two years later! They are moving to Clearfield. I'm sad that they'll be so far away. Their first home was in Clearfield so they're coming full circle which is pretty cool. They're moving in a month!

* Gpa Egan is stable. He's transferring to the Clearfield location of the care center (huge blessing that one even exists there--how's that for meant to be?)

* Caleb got new glasses and immediately started clapping and smiling when they were put on. He started walking more confidently that same day and is finally a walking champ! (Well, mostly).

* Last the best of all the game: Amy got her mission call. We all made guesses beforehand and while I felt like she was going to a visitors center mission, she was positive it was Kentucky. Cole guessed Honduras and I just knew he'd be wrong. Apparently I'm not in tune enough. Tegucigalpa, Honduras here she comes! It's fun to think that she'll be walking and riding buses around the same places I was just 13 years ago. She gets to go to the Guatemala MTC in 6 weeks. Very fast!I'm so excited for her and can't wait for letters and pictures. It'll be fun to have a missionary in the family again!

Video of her opening her call. When she sees that it's Honduras, she looks right at me and I thought it's because I won the guessing game. Nope! Best. Reaction. Ever.

I had to comment on the school thing. I saw your post on facebook and didn't comment because I am not a Utahn and wouldn't likely be any help, but I think that number of kids is outrageous. It's crazy to me! I'm so sorry. There is overcrowding in the schools out here too, but not to that extent. Schools are such a sensitive subject because we all want to do the best for our kids and don't want to feel like we are failing them. I talk to my mother-in-law about this a lot because 1. she was a teacher, 2. she had John in the gamut of schools--from fancy private to supposedly the "best possible" high school in Denver, Columbine. She has a unique perspective. She tells me time and time again, the biggest indicator of student success is parents that care. Hands down. If you are involved with Cole, read with him, work with him on things outside of school--you are giving him a step up in life! Every time she tells me that, it helps me to take a deep breath and realize that as long as I am trying and caring, then things will work out. But I get it, I so do. You're a great mom!
