I need to know


One of the things that I LOVE about Christmas time is the lights. It's a fun way to be festive, and for some reason--it's the only time of year when having lights on the outside of your house is accepted and embraced by most people. I know everybody has their individual tastes...and I'm curious to know what yours are. Do you like multi-colored lights? White lights? Reindeer? Blow-up yard displays? Icicle lights? Sock it to me. I've set up a few anonymous polls on the side for you to share...and if the poll doesn't explain yourself well, feel free to comment! Really, I want to know. Personally, I love colored lights on the tree, and white icicle lights on the house--but I really like colored lights everywhere too...aghhhh, too many choices...

okay, here's me: i love classic white lights on the tree. that's how our tree always was growing up. but lately i've also taken to the look of colored lights on the tree. so, i like either one.

as for the house and the yard- i'm a minimalist when it comes to decorations, but my husband would cover every inch of our house if it was up to him, and have blow-up things in the yard, and have something on the roof. so we compromise and do icicle lights. :)
but i AM open to colored lights on the house too. so again, either one.

We are very ecclectic people when it comes to decorating...for ANY holiday. Although Christmas is the worst...that fact coupled with the fact that Bj does most of the decorating, means we like any kind of lights and I do mean any. Last year we had colored lights around the window, white lights on the tree. As long as all the lights work on the strand Bj will find a use for it (even THAT qualifier isn't set in stone)...."heck SOME of the lights work..it would be shame to throw them out." ;) ;)

only white lights on a tree for me. i like just white on the house too - but don't mind color lights either. wait - when i say color - i mean like ONE color and white - NOT all colors mixed together. i'm not difficult, i promise.

My favorite lights on the tree are white. When my kids start making decorations I think we will do colored lights. I grew up with colored lights and my school made decorations on one tree and then the tree that was in the front window had white lights with some kind of theme! (Did that make sense?)

For the outside I definately like the big white, green, and red combination. Soooo pretty!! I like the spiral white trees and reindeer too!

We have three blowup things in our yard right now: the carousel, a penguin coming out of an igloo, and Santa on a motorcycle.

bwah haha haahaa! (juuuust kidding. But all of those things DO actually reside in our neighborhood.)

Yeah, actually we have zero decorations up right now. But when actually get off our butts, we go minimal. Wreaths with red bows on the windows (we've got a black and white house).
But our tree? That's a different story. I mean, we've got superhero ornaments sitting next to a baby jesus ornament. SO the tree I've just given up on. I'm sure in another 20 years I'll regain control.

Love lots of white lights on the tree.. but I have big, funky colored ones in the windows. I also like icicles for when we have a house someday....

Ok, for me there is never a time when I've seen somewhere over decorated. I love lights everywhere, colored or white, blow up things in the yard, silly christmas noise makers. I love christmas. It's all about over doing it. Just ignore the simplify comment for a month of two.
