100 Things About Me

I've decided to type 100 things about me. It's more for journaling purposes (and entertainment for some, I suppose) but I don't know if I can think of 100 in one sitting. We'll give 50 a whirl.

1. I am the spider killer in the house. It's true.
2. I have always loved music. I love to sing it, play it (even though I'm terrible) and listen to it...oh, and judge it whilst watching American Idol.
3. I used to be painfully shy when I was young. I think a mixture of experiences growing up has turned me into a very social person.
4. I love people! I get so attached to people, that I think they'd be weirded out if they knew how much I really cared about them.
5. I served in the Honduras, Tegucigalpa Mission. I returned 7 months early due to illness. I never felt guilty about coming home early though. I had a very sacred experience when I got home that comforted me (and always will). I know I had to come home early to cross paths with Danny again.
6. I loved my Mission. I get emotional just thinking about their humble circumstances, smiling faces and open arms. They are Lamanites who are gathering in flocks to hear the truth.
7. I have been proposed to 3 times. Twice they were unofficial "I love you and I want to marry you" type proposals. The third time was Danny. It was the only one I said yes to and I'm so glad I did!
8. I have zero birth sisters, but 6 amazing sisters-in-law.
9. I have never tasted alcohol and frankly I don't care to. It stinks!
10. The most "rebellious" thing I ever did was pierce my left ear on the top lobe. I had 3 ear piercings on that ear and my mom was so upset about it. I felt awful. But, I kept it in until it got infected for the 10 millionth time (my mom is thinking "it was a sign!" right now).
11. I was an EFY counselor at Utah State (Go Aggies!) and they were some of the most exhausting, fun and hilarious weeks of my life.
12. I attended SLCC, UVSC, SLCC again and then received a full ride scholarship to Utah State for my bachelors degree. I ended up turning down the scholarship so that Danny could pursue his culinary arts Degree in Arizona. I'm not bitter at all. I know it was the right decision.
13. I changed my major several times in college. I started out in Elementary Education, then Psychology, Social Work and ended up with my Generals Associates Degree. Exciting, I know. I want to return to school and get a Masters Degree. The problem is narrowing down what I would study!
14. I took interior design in High School and felt like I had a real skill for it. I have since been very humbled. I still love it though--and someday when we have the money--I will decorate our home, and dangit...it will be CUTE!
15. I am not a patient person. Danny marvels at my patience with Cole, but I think it's the ONLY thing I have patience for. Even with Cole I need to be better.
16. I love to have painted finger nails, but I never take the time to do it because once they chip and start to look gross, it is so much work to keep them nice, that I opt not to even do it at all.
17. I have never had a pedicure or a professional massage. I have a friend who works at the Utah College of Massage Therapy (and she is a licensed massage therapist). I just need to get my booty in there!
18. I have so much scrapbooking stuff that it overwhelms me and I don't scrapbook. I am YEARS behind.
19. I am a confident person. I'm not sure where it comes from--but I know if I put my mind to something, I can do it.
20. I'm an idealist. I am constantly trying to improve things.
21. I love movies. Danny and I each had a pretty good sized collection when we got married, and we would rather buy a movie than go to dinner--so we are the Blockbuster for friends and family. I've only lost 2 movies from doing it--but it was in my college days.
22. Danny was my first kiss! You're thinking "how can she have 2 proposals from men she's never kissed?" Just keep thinking....it's a LONG story. I don't have the energy to type it out.
23. I am not a cryer. My family would disagree because they saw me as an emotional teenager. But since being an adult I RARELY cry. In fact, I can't even think of the last time I cried. Seriously.
24. I am not afraid of getting old. I'm afraid of BEING old.
25. I don't like mushrooms, cheesecake, pie, sweet pickles or lots of red meat.
26. I love to read--but I'm not a big fan of fiction. If I'm going to read a book, I'd like to get something out of it.
27. I worked at Deseret Book (the bookstore and the Corporate Office) for over 4 years. I have a very big library!
28. I feel like I make friends easily. I love going to new places and meeting new people. Having said that--I think I keep friends pretty well too. I try to keep in touch with old and new. Thanks goodness for blogging!
29. I used to be deathly afraid of heights. I hated elevators too. I'm getting a little better, but my knees still go weak when standing near a cliff or at the top of a very tall building.
30. I love to teach.
31. I always learn the tune to music before the actual words. I like to sing in the car but I get annoyed with myself with I botch the lyrics.
32. I make up words. I've done this since I was a child. I still use some of the words I've made up. I also pick up random made up words from others. (E.g. mmgum & joll)
33. My weight is like a yo-yo. I have been in excellent shape, and I have been in awful shape (right now). I am so glad I'm feeling better and get back to the gym.
34. You wouldn't think it to look at me but I love to exercise. I love the feeling you get when you're done.
35. Even though I'm a confident person--I detest arrogance. I think there is a big difference. Confidence can be a quiet comfort. Cocky people really bother me.
36. I get irritated with people who are constantly "going against the grain" just for the sake of doing it. I don't think they have a real reason. They are just stubborn and in need of attention.
37. I loving living in Utah. There is so much to do in every season. I am not opposed to living anywhere else (hello, San Diego!!) but I am very content to stay here.
38. I am very open-minded. I don't need people to "prove" things to me. I'm not gullible, I just consider myself open to have my knowledge and beliefs tested.
39. I am good at making decisions. I know--such a cool thing to be good at.
40. I love change so much that I often want to rearrange the furniture in the house just for something different. I even did this to my bedroom ALL the time when I was younger.
41. I don't have a very good memory. Danny usually wins when we're disagreeing about how something happened in the past. It's a good thing I'm getting used to being wrong :)
42. I served on the Institute Council at the Taylorsville Institute. It was a wonderful year of my life--and helped mold me into the person I am today. I remember an Institute teacher telling me one day after a Friday Forum that my future husband would be attracted to my service and love for the gospel while I was serving on council. Yep--Danny loved it. I was SO clueless.
43. I can't wait to have a daughter. I am excited to braid her hair, paint her nails, talk about boys and shop together.
44. I have a fiery temper. Quick to anger but also quick to forgive and forget. Usually.
45. I am a fast learner. I can pick up something quickly if I can do it on my own. I am very hands-on with learning.
46. I love being able to speak Spanish. I can't wait to serve a mission with Danny and hopefully continue improving my accent and knowledge.
47. I am not a particularly good photographer but I appreciate beautiful photography. There is something so peaceful and comforting about a beautifully captured moment.
48. I want to write a book someday. I know many people aspire to this--but I REALLY want to. I have several ideas up my sleeve. Ask me about it some time :)
49. Thinking of 100 things is much easier than I thought it would be.
50. I have CRAZY dreams. Danny will attest to this. Sometimes they are vivid and terrifying and other times they are hilarious and make me laugh out loud. Just last night I dreamt that David Cook, David Archuleta and Jason Castro were hanging out with us and making us dinner. It wasn't that funny--but it was still entertaining.
51. I met Donny Osmond when I lived in Provo. I was in Eagle Hardware & Garden with my roommate Stephanie and I was so nervous I was shaking. He didn't even want to talk about himself, he just kept asking me about myself. (We were in line next to each other at the cash register). When we drove off, I busted into tears. Not my coolest moment. But I was slightly obsessed with him.
52. I LOVED High School. I didn't get a very good education though. School was such a social thing for me. I always got really good grades, but I felt like I didn't take away anything useful! I test really well, so I would get an A on the test, and then forget everything I learned. I didn't learn to love learning until college.
53. I am always looking for a reason to celebrate. Birthday, Anniversary, Friday, Holiday, Payday, etc. There is ALWAYS something to celebrate if you get creative.
54. I'm not a big dare devil. In fact--I'm kind of a wimp. But before I die I want to do so many things. Scuba diving, cliff diving, skiing, bungee jumping and white water rafting are at the top of my list.
55. The first (and only) time I went snowmobiling, I thought I'd be really cool and go off on my own for a while. I ended up get stuck half way up a steep mountain and I had to get off the snowmobile, and PRAY my guts out until they came looking for me and could rescue me.
56. While I'm thinking about stupid things I've done--I'll throw in the fact that I slid down a banister at a local High School. (every single night for a week straight, actually). It was the VERY last time I wanted to do it that I got hurt. I lost my balance and fell backwards down the stairs. I should have broken my back. I was told by more than one person that it looked like I was being caught. I'm telling you--I have guardian angels.
57. I don't like the way I look without makeup--but I'm getting better at being more relaxed about it.
58. I am not a big TV junkie. I have 3 or 4 shows that I really like and those are the only shows that I watch. I record them, and fast forward the commercials (thank heavens for DVRs), then the TV goes off. I hate just laying around like a slob watching the boob tube.
59. I love my wedding ring. I especially love the way it looks in the Temple. The lighting is awesome there :)
60. Some people would change so many things about their wedding day. I can't think of anything I would change. I was relaxed, happy and so in love (still am). I laughed, cried and soaked in every second of the day. I wish we could do it all over again!
61. I want to go on a cruise some day. I love the ocean.
62. I have swam with Dolphins in the Atlantic Ocean. It was so cool.
63. Even though I'm afraid of heights, I LOVE LOVE LOVE theme parks. Six Flags is my favorite of all time.
64. I'm not really a pet person. I grew up with pets, but I don't really see us ever owning any. I think cats are adorable (and I detest people that are cruel to animals), but with Danny's allergies and my disinterest in caring for one--we probably won't ever have any. Maybe a goldfish.
65. I am an analyzer. I dissect things that aren't even interesting to most people. I sit and think about why things are the way they are. Sometimes it keeps me up at night--it's kind of ridiculous.
66. I like math & biology.
67. When I was little we played "night games" every Friday Night. We played monkey in the court, sardines, steal the flag and so many more. Those were good times.
68. All my brothers played baseball when they were little. I wanted to play "bonnet ball" (the girl version of baseball, I guess) but my parents never signed me up and I like to think it really screwed me up. We still joke about it all the time.
69. I love gymnastics. When I was little I would always play in the backyard doing somersaults, backhand springs, and other very basic tumbling moves. I would watch the gymnasts in the Summer Olympics and wish to be them some day. I obviously don't have the body to be a gymnast :)
70. I have boxes full of poems and short stories from my adolescence. I had this dream to be a writer and really enjoyed my creative writing classes in High School.
71. The summer of 1996 I played volleyball every single day with friends from my neighborhood (except Sundays). We played all afternoon and had great tans. I got really good at 2 on 2 in the sand.
72. I hate scorpions. Once on my mission a scorpion fell from the ceiling onto my bug net (it's a good thing I had one!). Luckily I wasn't stung but it was pretty traumatizing.
73. I'm not a fan of scary movies. I don't like talking about ghosts and/or evil spirits, it makes me physically sick.
74. I think being a waitress is one of the hardest jobs I've ever had. (Old Spaghetti Factory)
75. I am a techy. It's Danny's fault. I didn't know much about computers until I met him. Now I am a total geek about it.
76. I think Bill Murray and Steve Carrel are two of my favorite actors.
77. I love to dance. I'm not gifted in this area by ANY means, but I love ballroom dance, line dancing and country dancing. I would love to take lessons with Danny someday.
78. I have extremely large pupils. My optometrist always comments on it.
79. I have really thick hair. I have also had pretty much every hairstyle you can imagine. The 80's were not good to me. Thanks mom! Just kidding.
80. Danny and I only dated for 6 weeks before we talked about marriage. I think we both pretty much knew from the first or second date though. We had known each other for 3 years before we really started dating seriously.
81. I love carbonation. It's the bubbles! I know it's not good for me and I should probably give it up. *Sigh*
82. I don't mind my freckles. In fact, I think they're kind of cute.
83. I have so many moles. It's out of control. I've gotten lots removed, and I want to get them ALL removed eventually.
84. I have no idea how many children I want. I don't think we're completely in control of that anyway. I would love to adopt.
85. I really believe that anything is possible. I know it sounds cliché but it's true. I totally believe in the "American Dream".
86. I'm a pretty creative person but I have to be "in the zone".
87. I am comfortable with who I am.
88. I wish I understood football. My brother tried to start explaining the basics to me once, but it didn't stick. I think growing up with 4 brothers I learned to just block it out, because I didn't really feel like I fit in. Danny's not a big sports fan, but I am determined to figure it out someday!
89. I used to dress up my youngest brother as a girl. He was my little "rag doll" as he likes to call it. I would dress him up, and make him follow me around. He was the sister I never had. Poor kid. He is probably still messed up over that.
90. I've been told that I'm dramatic--but I never wanted to be in drama. Explain that one to me.
91. In Elementary School, I was always the tallest girl and had to stand on the back row with all the boys for school pictures, while the petite little girls all sat on chairs in the front row. Punks.
92. My VERY first crush was on a boy named Danny. Crazy huh?
93. I like watching my blood get drawn. It's so weird to watch it be sucked away into a needle.
94. I started an eBay business and became a Power Seller in just 3 months.
95. I have 6 months until my 10 year High School Reunion. I better hit the gym.
96. I am funny. I seriously am. I always knew I'd have to marry someone with a great sense of humor. Luckily I married the funniest GUY alive.
97. I used to write talks to give in Primary "just because". I would make my mom sit in the living room while I stood on the hearth and gave my talk to her. When it came time for our Primary class to give talks, the teacher would say "Does anybody besides RaeLynn want to give a talk?" Haha! Now I hate talking in church. (But I don't mind teaching...weird).
98. I always look at my birth month (August) on calendars and I could swear that August always has the ugliest picture. What's up with that?
99. I get back spasms and really bad headaches when I'm stressed out.
100. I just asked Danny what I should say for my last fact, and he said I should say that I know more about cars than he does. When it comes to the make and model of a car--he is right. I could tell you from a mile away what kind of car is headed towards me.

If you actually read all 100 facts, WAY TO GO. You should celebrate (see?!)
