My to do list

I am all about lists. Unfortunately, I am a little TOO much into them. I feel like if I didn't accomplish every single thing on my list, I failed in a small way. Today I started to make a list of long-term goals that I'd like to accomplish. That way, when I have some free time, I can tackle one small project at a time and still feel productive. I am usually the type of person who likes to be busy. I am always working on something. My problem is actually finishing my tasks. These are some of the things on my grand to do list. (I realize some of these may be HUGE projects and some are on a much smaller scale). Either way, I will be busy for the rest of my life...

  • Clean off desks
  • Organize eBay inventory
  • Organize and de-junk closets
  • Work on blurb book
  • Scan pictures
  • Back up all files to external hard drive
  • Finish 72 hour kits
  • Write out a plan for food storage
  • Discuss evacuation plan w/ family
  • List eBay auctions
  • Living Will
  • Look into renter's insurance
  • Call AMEX about Costco rebate
  • Finish Cole's quiet book
  • Make a menu for March
  • Take stuff to D.I.
  • Close Chase Credit Card
  • Update budget
  • Shrink the mending pile
  • Organize kitchen cabinets
Holy cow. This is where I get overwhelmed. I am especially overwhelmed with all the food storage/72 hour kits/emergency preparedness type stuff. If anybody has any ideas that will help--please send it along. I am more than willing to take suggestions.

Oh yeah, that book I was reading a while ago Project Organization--yeah, I can't even find it. Does that tell you how bad things are?! Ironic isn't it?

That's a pretty hefty list...I think mine would be quite similar in length!!! I am not good at emergency preparedness at all...I wish I could help but I could use some tips myself!!

rae... you're making me want to breathe in a paper bag. i finally found a system that works for me, but this list makes me remember things i'm forgetting.

anyway- i also get REALLY overwhelmed with food storage and 72 hour kits, but my mom always reminds me not to worry about doing it all at once, and that my efforts will be recognized by the Powers that Be.

dit what steph said. i get overwhelmed a lot when i look at all the things i should be doing. i have a million. but i ushe just get to the important things - like keeping the kids alive each day - and then i stress about the other things after they are in bed. heh. i'm not the best to give advice on organizing and getting done. sor - but relax and know you aren't alone :)

I too can send you an email with some food storage ideas. My plans are still in the works, but I'm getting there. It's a big task!
our stake is doing a huge preparedness kick and we are asked to get one thing every month. This month is 3 cans of sugar per person and winter clothing and bedding. Last month was one can of powdered milk/person (yuck) and an alternative cooking source. Focusing on one bite per month makes the whole thing easier to swallow.
