UNBELIEVABLE

I am always irritated when reading the COMMENTS of articles posted on KSL.com (a local news network here in Utah). Of course since Prop 8 passed there are going to be all sorts of ridiculous things going on to fight it. This lady is one of them. If you go to the actual story and read the comments (I wouldn't recommend it) you would see over 400 comments of people who have no idea what they are talking about. KSL is a HUGE target. It's a news team that reports from Salt Lake City. They are associated with Bonneville International {correct me if I'm wrong} which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (Also, a huge target) especially in this Prop 8 campaigning. Some people make a career out of sitting at their computers trying to outrage people by saying the dumbest things that they know will be sensitive topics. They know that a lot of people reading KSL.com are members of the LDS church and will be angry by reading their mean comments.

I mean, I knew things like this would result from the passing of Prop 8 in California. Several of the donations were coming from MEMBERS of the church. It's not like President Monson just sat down and wrote a big fat check to "Yes on 8" {once again...as I understand it}. I am just preparing myself for a lot of negative repercussions. Bring on the crazies.

I'm just sick of watching people BASH the church to death when there were MANY other organizations, including churches and religions donating time & money for the exact same cause. I guess this just shows that we truly are in the "latter-days" because it's only going to get worse from here. And as if we don't get enough flack:
The Church has been singled out in election coverage, including on CNN. And the day before the election, Jon Stewart on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" took this shot. He said, "Did you know their church had to found its own state because America refused to tolerate the way that Mormons got married? That's how America got stuck with Utah." -ksl.com

SICK!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOO That just BOILS MY BLOOD! Let me at'em let me at'em! C'mon Pres. Monson - bless his heart - is probably used to all the mail. His secretaries will filter it all out anyway. P.S. you are right about the funding - the church itself did NOT write a big fat check. All the money donated was from individual members - some of which were very large sums - but it's not like the church FORCED them to donate - "we'll take away your temple recommend unless..." NO. No tithing dollars or other offerings owned by the church were donated. Paul read an article about it yesterday - I'll see if I can find it.

hahaha and blah blah blah! They can say whatever they want to...we won. By the grace of God that is. I think for now He'll only allow sooo much crap to hit the fan. THANK GOODNESS prop 8 went through! I actually feel sorry for the people who talk ill of the Lords mouthpiece. Heaven help the United States.
Unfortunately the help Heaven’s going to HAVE to send to get some attention isn’t going to be pretty.

I am seriously thrilled (as I'm sure many people are) that Prop 8 passed, and Prop 102 here in AZ (hooray!), and Amendment 2 in Florida! It gave me some hope in the people of this country. I was more worried about these props than I was about the presidency because I think I knew that Obama was going to win and I had very little input into that.
Did you hear about the anti-Mormon commercials being aired in CA? I haven't watched them yet because it will just tick me off. I hear they were pretty nasty. Anyway, it makes me so mad (and it makes we want to cry) that people take such mean jabs at our church and the humble men that lead it. It drives me nuts that these people who are against prop 8 say that there shouldn't be any "hate", and yet they have no problem slamming our church because we believe marriage is between a man and a woman. But, I know that our leaders were led when they made that decision to support these propositions, and I know it will all work out in the end. Maybe that end won't be until the second coming, and like the comment above said, it isn't going to be pretty. However, there are great things to look forward to after the second coming! I keep finding hope in that.
P.S. I'm glad to know that all of this is bothering you too. It's driving me nuts, and Travis is so sick of hearing me talk about it!

That was a long comment...sorry!

I am going to try not to leave a long comment. But I do want to say this. I believe the very reason why the church doesn't respond is because they aren't boiling mad. They see things from a much bigger and more mature perspective and just don't let it bother them. As members of the church we must do the same. We must let it roll off our backs and not respond negatively. We must all take the higher road.. breathe a little deeper then next time something offends us and try to reach out to those who are so against us. It will most definitely get worse, but we can't get MAD about it. Anyway, that's all I am going to say for now. Everything will be okay. The fact that the LDS church is the only target is just fine. Let them be mad, but don't let them get you mad.

*this is all my opinion and I wasn't pointing it at anyone directly.* Friends?

I know I already posted once, and I said it makes me mad, but I also know that Janet is right...I can't let it make me mad. I'm sure our leaders knew this kind of stuff would happen, and it really doesn't matter. We are standing up for our beliefs and that's what matters. Like I said, it'll all work out in the end.

I get where you are coming from, Janet. But the reason I am angry right now is because there are people threatening my brother and his family (former Californians) because of this Prop 8 business. It's one thing to point a finger at "the church" in general, but it's entirely different when it's directly affecting my family.

It makes me laugh because it's not like President Monson is going to go "Oh? What? People are MAD at me? Shoot - never mind. I change my mind." They are wasting their time.

Ugh, it's maddening isn't it? I won't go to the site, cause I know I'll take it too personally. But I like what Kristen said...those protestors are wasting their time and energy, and for what? Seriously, if all those people had put that time and effort into something worthwhile, imagine all the things that could have gotten done...
