White Family Reunion
This year instead of leaving town the Whites decided to stay local and do some things in the area. We planned a weekend that just so happened to have awful weather. Of course this followed several weeks of PERFECT weather and was to be followed by weeks of PERFECT weather. Blast it all. That messed up some of our plans but here are some things that really stood out to me.
The service Project: We handed our flyers around the neighborhoods surrounding Laura's new school. It's been this "mystery" building that a lot of people didn't know about. So, as a service to the new school we went door to door and passed out about 250 flyers explaining the specifics of this new building. It was cool to get together and be a part of something that was meaningful and helpful to the school.
The first full day that included a picnic lunch up the canyon, setting up camp, going to Deer Creek Resevoir to start getting rained on, going back to camp, packing up and leaving so we could avoid the big storm that was headed our way. The weather did NOT want to cooperate. We were really looking forward to an overnight campout in our new Walmart tent :) Cole was especially disappointed. Oh yeah, I totally jammed my finger at the picnic (throwing around the football) so before we even made it to our campsite my finger was swollen, starting to bruise and hurt like the dickens. Awesome.
The "girls afternoon". We had time set a side where the kids had to stay back and the girls got to go out for some girly time. It was so much fun to just be "us". I don't think I've ever been with just the White Family girls when we weren't at a baby shower or something. Some fun things included:
~The Parade of Homes. I found my future house so if they'll just keep it as a model until we're ready to move in, that would be great.
~Going to the Cheese Cake Factory and not eating cheesecake. Instead, Little Emily and I shared a sundae.
~Hitting the Bath & Body Works sale and getting squirted by Little Emily with some body wash...it was all over Angie's hair and shirt and got all over my hands. It was hilarious and we just laughed about it. An innocent little mistake. I still smile when I think about it.
~Admiring Big Emily's new bangs. Work it.

Cole trying to desperately to bond with his new cousin Ellie. Everytime I went to take a picture of her he wanted to get in the frame. I think he's starting to get a bit jealous :)

We also had movie night at Greg and Angie's. They busted out their screen and projector and we watched Speed Racer in their back yard on sleeping bags and air matresses. Good times.

I'm so glad to be a part of the White Family--I couldn't ask for better in-laws.
