Goodbye Summer, Hello School...
I don't think I've ever been so sad to say goodbye to summer. I'm such a huge fan of Fall that I usually like to skip August and get right into the changing leaves, pumpkins and comfortable sweaters. But this summer has been different for me. I know I've been spoiled this summer and I've actually been really grateful for it. I'm so bummed that the summer is over. I feel so lucky to have spent some really quality time with people I love and have recently gotten to know. I've been extremely fortunate to have gotten a job at a school where Cole will be. So, I'm dramatically closing this chapter of 2009 and looking forward to my favorite season of all--FALL!Photo Courtesy
I've always been a sucker for school supplies. I don't know what it is. I am in heaven when I walk down an aisle full of crayons, pens, pencils, colored paper, paint sets, etc. It just makes me happy. I've always loved the first day of school. It was so fun to show off my new backpack, back to school clothes and squeaky clean shoes. I just have happy memories (mostly in my younger years, heh) of the excitement of starting a new year. I have been feeling that excitement (and anxiety) for Cole as this year has approached. He thinks school is great because at this point it consists of food, recess, painting, stories and toys. HELLO. It is really fun for me to be helping out while Cole is in class and then to be a part of the after care program at his school. It really is a big blessing. And somehow we have STILL managed to work things out with just one car. 5 1/2 years with just one car. Shouldn't we qualify for some type of award? Danny is now taking the bus and trax to work which gives me the car to get Cole and I to school. Bonus. It's so great having a car :) I hope I never take it for granted. This is how nerdy I am: I smile just looking around the classrooms full of brightly colored numbers and letters. I love the smell of art supplies. It's so cute to see all the kids in uniforms. I just want to give big squishy hugs to all the little girls with their bouncy curls and their plaid jumpers. Do I sound creepy? They're just so cute. Maybe I'll start wearing knee length plaid jumpers with a white shirt and black tie. We all know that is a great look for me. It's ironic to me that I started out my college studies in Elementary Education and then changed my mind (at least 10,000 times--no exaggeration) to several other things...but now that I'm in a school setting I'm realizing how much I really do love it. So, we'll see...maybe some day I'll go back to school and get my degree!Photo Courtesy
