Blurb it out

I know lots of people who have turned their blogs into books.  I think it's a brilliant idea.  This should be a really competitive field but I only know of one company who has basically monopolized the market on it.  BLURB.  I know some people have some little problems here and there, but honestly--it's the best thing out there.  Their newest version 2.5.0 allows you to not only used pre-formed templates, but also to customize your own and adjust anything as necessary.  I am having a ball with this.  Probably too much fun.  This is what I have been working on late into the night.  The thing is--I feel like it's a form of family history.  It's been so good for me to go through older posts and read how I was feeling or what we were struggling with at that time.  I'm so glad I have the pictures that I've uploaded.  We had an external hard drive give up on us and we lost so many pictures.  So the blog has SAVED us that way.  If it weren't for the blog, we might not have anything to show for those years!

Anyway, I just thought I'd share what I'm using in case any of you have been wanting to know how to get started.  This isn't even just for blog books.  This company can do ANY type of book so if you're into photography or recipe sharing or whatever--they can cater to what your needs are.  The software is FREE.  What's that? Free? Oh...ok, it's FREE.  I love that word.  Of course the book isn't free--but let's get real.  Here's a screen shot of what I'm working on tonight.  I'm working on some pages of a wedding cake Danny made back in 2007.  I'm going to do a book for each year.  I'm almost done with '07.  Then on to'08 ( in case you didn't know what came after '07). Heh.

Thanks Rae! I have been wanting to turn our blog into a book as well but just didn't know where to go. Now I will have to actually get started making the book.

Adam and I just printed off a book. It is so wonderful. It would be so sad to do a blog but not save it. What's the point. Last I checked Blurb didn't support Blogger. I'll have to check it out again. We used InDesign and MyPublisher for our blog book.

Yes,that is my question. How much time does it take? And do you know how it works with slideshows?
