Blog Tips

So since I'm a bit nerdy and like to do things like this, I thought I'd throw out some tips on how to change/improve your blog (heh).  You obviously don't have to take this advice or do anything with it, but if you want people to like you better, you'll keep reading.

1.  When leaving comments on a blog, there is an option to have the comments form pop up in a little window rather than change the entire page to a comment form.  I like this because then you don't have to go back to the original page after typing your comment.  Does that make sense?  So, if you're leaving a comment on a form that takes up the entire page (and you can't see the actual blog anymore) after you leave your comment you have to click on a link to get back to the blog page and scroll down to the next post...there is SUCH an easier way :) And it's more convenient for your readers.

Go to Settings --> Comments-->Comment Form Placement.  Click on the Pop-up window option.  Voila.  This way your readers can leave their comment quickly, close the small window and still be exactly where they were reading before leaving their comment.  It's just a matter of convenience.

2.  Making your collages bigger.  I'm always a little bummed when I see a really cute collage on a blog and when I click on it to see it bigger, it ISN'T any bigger.  Maybe I just have bad eyesight but I love to see the picture larger.  Here's a really simple way on how to do that.  It takes 5 seconds.  Literally.  If you use Photoscape to create your collages, here is how it's done.  After picking your template, click on the acorn under the Edit button on the right hand side.  Scroll down and select 200% or larger.  That is ALL you have to do.  If you don't want a square--just change the width/height ratio.

3.  Making your music playlist not play automatically :) This one I'm throwing out there because it's kind of annoying to me to go to a website or blog and have music start playing before I can even start reading.  Although I have a broad taste in music, sometimes I just don't like listening to the music that's on the playlist.  I know a lot of people who complain about this and that's why I'm feeling brave enough to address the issue :) If your Music Player starts automatically and you like it that way--by all means, don't make any changes.  But if you've never noticed that you can change it, keep reading.

When looking at your playlist, you'll see on the right hand side "Generate Code".  Obviously you know where to find this if you've embedded this on to your blog.

This takes you to option 1 where you can choose which type of site you want to share your music with.  You mostly likely choose option E.

Step 2 is so self-explanatory that I don't need to point it out ;) Once you get to the last step, you get to choose a few more ways to personalize your player.  The very first option is Autostart.  (Which I believe is the default).  The default makes it easy to ignore and you probably just want to get down to the code and slap it on your blog.  But it takes 2 seconds to change the Autostart to "No".  PLEASE do this.  For the love of all bloggers.  I beg of you.

Okay, now that I've offended half of my readers--I bid you adieu...and don't hate me.  I really do love your blogs!!
