Thomas the Turkey and My Hair
Last year we made this fun "Thomas the Turkey" (I even stole the NAME of the turkey, how pathetic am I?) and set it out to dry after he was painted and forgot about him. We went out on Monday and found him all alone in the garage. So cold and sad. So, for Family Home Evening we brought him in and gave him some feathers to warm him up. We added a bunch of things we were thankful for. We even had Papa and Grandpa Egan get in on the fun. Cole absolutely loved it. My only embarrassment is that his first item of thankfulness was "watching TV". OH GOLL. Looks like I've got some work to do as a mother. Shocker.
As you can see--yep, thrilled.
We had another big first with Cole. He's never been one for drawing or coloring. I'm not sure why, he has just never liked to. I've started to worry that he was going to have chicken scratch hand writing and only want to type his name on the keyboard instead of learn how to write but he has finally come through for me. His teacher has been telling me that drawing and coloring is such a huge part of the skills he needs to develop to have good handwriting, etc. So..he drew his first self portrait. I know this seems small and insignificant...but it is HUGE. He even gave himself a "warm wintery hat". Then he topped it off with writing his name. I'm such a proud mama.
Do you like his face here? Haha.
Next item of business: I got my hair cut. Like, really cut. I also got highlights and I absolutely love it. My friend Jamie from the Institute of Religion (way back in the day) and I struck up a little trade. She did my hair in exchange for 50 handmade Christmas Cards. I've got my work cut out for me, but to be fair, she totally deserves it. She did a FULL weave and cut my hair, layered it, stacked it, thinned it and actually gave me a style again. I feel like a new woman :) This would have easily cost me $85+ in a salon so I was very pleased. You wouldn't believe how much hair she chopped. She said she's never cut anyone's hair that was as thick as mine. Hey--at least I won't be going bald anytime soon.
I know I'm gross for taking these pictures but it's just still so strange to me...
Thanks Chica!

And your new hair cut is SUPER CUTE!
I need a cut...
I love Cole's picture. He did a really good job. Jayben drew a picture of me yesterday and I looked like a dragon. Oh well.
Love the Thomas the Turkey idea. Even if you did steal it.
