I could get used to this...
I'm feeling really lucky today. Well, I'm actually feeling blessed. You know how there's times in your life that you just want to "get through"? Or periods of life when you are trying to make it to one singular moment in time when all will finally be well? When you'll be able to be happy? I'm not feeling that way today. I'm feeling pretty good. I might be jinxing myself here but I feel like our lives are going pretty well. There is always something to complain about but I've been reading several blogs lately that are really inspiring me to walk away from that. Which is hard--because sometimes being critical is really fun. That sounds bad but it's easy to be grouchy and mean. It's easy to make fun of people and point out why they're crazy. I see this as a challenge: to CHOOSE to look for the good NO MATTER WHAT. It is most definitely a choice.
Warning: some days I won't make that choice. I'll complain about things and it might even be a little bit hilarious because when I'm really irritated it tends to make me funny (especially at night)...just sayin'.
Here are a couple of FANTASTICAL things about today:
* I'm not at work (sorry coworkers, I still love you Jackie--but dang)
* I went to Target alone. What was that? A little piece of heaven? Well thanks!
* I went to the D.I. to look for something and ended up running into the MOST random guy ever. We actually met him at church a few weeks ago and he was literally SPRAWLED out on the couch in the foyer. Shoes on the couch and everything. I asked politely if I could sit down ('cause he was taking up the entire couch and I'm a lady, so ya know--it was the right thing to do). We started talking (Okay, lie. He started talking to me.) REALLY loud. Like, shouting. "I'M GONNA GET A JOB AT THE D.I.!!"
Me: (in a much softer and reverent-like tone) Oh cool. That will be a fun place to work." [smile]
Him: "I'M PROLLY GOING TO GET A MENTOR TOMORROW SO THAT I CAN GET A JOB AT THE D.I.!!"
Me: (seriously trying not to laugh because this was becoming really entertaining) "Well, having a job is a good idea..blah blah blah"
Him: "YEAH, DID YOU KNOW THAT ALL KIDS LOVE DISNEYLAND?"
Me: "Oh totally. Who doesn't love Disneyland?"
Him: "NO ONE THAT I KNOW!"
This went on for a few minutes and it just totally made my day. He was so happy and positive about life. I'm smiling right now just thinking about it. Back to my story--so I get to the D.I. this morning about 5 minutes before they opened (I wasn't aware that it was going to be like Black Friday--apparently every day opening the doors to the store can be scary because there were people hovering by the entrance when I walked up--and then about 30 when the doors finally opened. This is another story for another day. Guess who walks up ?? Mr. D.I. himself!! He was waving his application around and approached a very focused business man. "I'M GONNA GET A JOB AT THE D.I.!!" I was trying SOOOO hard not to give a loud belly laugh which is truly what the occasion called for. The business man just nodded so I jumped in to give him some attention.
Me: "Well hi there! I remember meeting you a while ago and you were telling me you wanted to get a job here!"
Him: (sort of creeped out that I remembered him) "WELL THEY CAN'T HIRE ME UNTIL I GIVE THEM MY APPLICATION, AND HERE IT IS!!" He waved it around maniacally. I was happy for him. :) I hope he gets the job so I can go visit him. He had on the same sandals he was wearing at church. They looked pretty comfy.
Back to my list...
* I found some old friends on Facebook and it's been really fun to see them/their families.
* I have the time and energy to get stuff done today. I fell asleep around 8:30 last night and slept until 7:00 this morning. Fully rested. Yessssssss.
* Oh yeah...It's Friday and it's officially FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLL!!!
