Turkey Day Top Ten # 7

I am grateful for good music.

Did you think I was going to say I'm grateful for crappy music? Yeah, I thought so.  Music has a way of impacting me like nothing else.  I'm always surprised at how it can affect my mood like almost nothing else can.  When I worked at Deseret Book, sometimes I'd go into work with the worst attitude and I didn't want to be there (even though it was an awesome job, it was a time of life where I just didn't want to work--I just wanted to play all day).  By the time I left I was always in a better mood.  Listening to that uplifting music affected me for the better.  Even if it was just on a subconscious level, I always felt happier.  Some of you are thinking I was happier because I was leaving, aren't you? Well--not so :)

I love me some fun music too.  I love cranking up the music while I clean.  I love using headphones while doing the dishes and I love dancing around like a spazz with Cole.  He loves to dance with me because I make up amazing moves that the Ballet West and Jazz Dancers should probably start using.

I love music that calms my soul.  There is no match for inspirational, peaceful music that draws my mind towards things that matter most.  Music is a powerful tool in my life and I'm so grateful that there are so many talented people who can produce what my heart just loves.

*I should mention that I'm also extremely grateful that I get to attend the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert this year.  I never realized it was so popular until a couple years ago.  The whole process is intense and the fact that they never disappoint makes it a sure fire good time.  Plus, obviously my good and very dear friend (ha!) David Archuleta will be joining them this year.  Um, seriously? Could that be a better mix? Can next year be Josh Groban? Can you imagine??

I also need to mention that Christmas music is especially awesome :) If you don't have this CD, you really must own it.  It's a favorite of mine.  With the exception of the Christmas Shoes song, who doesn't just love Christmas music? I love that it's the only holiday that really has it's "own music".  Yeah baby.

Hilary Weeks Christmastime!!! AHHHH!!! I've been listening to it for weeks and weeks & I still love it. Every year I start listnening to it before Thanksgiving & I swear I can sing Christmastime just like her. Isn't that the best song ever? I remember belting it out in the store when we had no customers....good times! :) Sometimes I miss those days. Can you believe that store has been open for 10 years now? Oh - I'm old! Love ya RaeLynn!
