California 2011

Monday

The day we had all been waiting for!! I geeked out and took like 8 pictures of Cole’s first time walking down Main Street.  I am only posting 1 so as to lessen my perceived geekiness.

Where to really start? The first ride we took Cole on probably wasn’t the best choice but in the end it was fine.  I forgot how…busy the Buzz Lightyear ride is. Lots of sounds and visual effects—he was basically totally overwhelmed but still managed to want to keep going so it couldn’t have been that bad.

If you go to Disneyland and aren’t sure you care about seeing the World of Color…it is worth it! Yes you have to get to California Adventure early in the day to get decent seats but you won’t regret it.  It was FREAKIN’ COOL.  They basically used fountains of water with projections/fire/fireworks (I think there were fireworks?) and had GREAT music.  It kind of stressed me out to think about being in charge of orchestrating something that huge.  I’m cool and get stressed out about dumb things like that.

At around lunch time Cole and I went back to the Hotel (I’ll tell the full story in a minute) and Danny was able to hang with his brothers for a few hours and go on the big kid rides :) Cole was just as excited to play in the Hotel pool as he was to go on the Disneyland rides (well for the first 10 minutes) and we had fun getting off our feet.  Which brings me to this: I had a horrible flair up of plantar fasciitis which was unrelenting the entire trip.  For those of you who are too lazy to click on the link (kidding…sort of) basically I have flat feet with no arch support.  If I wear flip flops or sandals for even 1 day straight, I can be ruined.  Guess who wore flip flops on Saturday AND Sunday? I’m an idiot.  So for the rest of the vacation my feet were killing me.  If you’ve ever experienced the pain that comes with plantar facia you know the acute, sharp pain that I’m talking about.  Every step is torturous and after only 4 hours at Disneyland I literally couldn’t handle the pain.  So the rest of Monday was pretty chill.  I tried to stay off my feet the rest of the day and was popping ibuprofen like it was going out of style (judge me, go ahead).  I was determined to not let it ruin the trip for me (us).
