The first of second

I wouldn't be a red-blooded American if I didn't post a picture of Cole on his first day of second grade. This little nugget has been so excited for school to start. We do much better with structure around here. Plus, he thrives in that type of setting and it makes ME happy to see HIM so happy.

The night before school, Danny and I put a couple notes in his lunchbox as well as a little joke (he's totally into cheesy jokes right now). Wouldn't you know that in the morning, he totally looked through his lunch box to check out the goods and found our "surprise"?

Cole has a nice little set up in our office for him to do homework. He is a HUGE fan and has been very careful about not letting it get messy. I'm sure he's just dying that "real" homework doesn't begin for another week or two. I'd like to thank IKEA for having the best deals ever on cheap furniture...

When Cole woke up on Tuesday, he jumped out of bed and I was in the office getting ready. I could hear him talking to himself saying, "Today's the day! Today I'm a 2nd grader!" He popped his head in the office and informed me that he was going to try really hard to not get distracted while getting dressed for school. Approximately 90 seconds later, he was ready to put on his backpack but I had to rain on his parade by telling him that he didn't leave for over an hour. Bummer. I wish I was that enthusiastic about everything I did!
