Peace out 2nd grade!
For some reason the end of 2nd grade has been harder for me emotionally than the end of first grade. (I just realized it's probably because I'm pregnant. heh.) With the changes going on right now I've been extra sentimental about Cole and his childhood. I've mentally been keeping track of his last "this" or "that" and I find myself getting emotional about how fast he's growing up.
Since there was still a week and a half of school left after we moved, I drove Cole the 20 minute drive to and from school each day. It wasn't too bad. Especially with the new Mountain View Corridor. I loved seeing his face when he saw me in the carpool lane waiting to pick him up. He'd run 100 mph to the car, fling open the door and begin to tell me all about his day and all the fun end-of-the-year things they did.
I have really liked Cole's school. I feel like he's been in the perfect place for each year he's been in school. Pre-K and Kindergarten was so good for him at American Heritage and was a very solid foundation for the older grades. First and second grades were spent at a great school with a fabulous PTA, really good parental involvement in the classroom and several of my friends have kids that go there so it's been fun to see so many familiar faces. I'm sad that we're moving on but that's just a part of life. I'll miss the pilot program that Fox Hollow got to be a part of with the technology in the classroom. They use iPads, apple TVs and the computer lab is full of iMacs. The school is totally spoiled in the technology department and I know that's the direction all schools are headed. I hope we don't end up in some scary, low income neighborhood that still uses typewriters :)
On the last day of school, I was feeling sad that my little boy was now a third grader. We decided to meet up with Dad for lunch. That always cheers us up.
It's officially summer so let the good times roll!
Funny: Mrs. Shipp looked SO tired/exhausted/burned out on the last day that she was literally blowing off the kids in front of their own parents. She had nothin' left. Couldn't even fake it. She's the ONLY thing that hasn't really impressed me about Cole's experience at Fox Hollow. At least we had Mrs. Osborn for the first half the year!
