November in a nutshell

Cole bonding with his bro

This is Caleb's idea of tummy time. He would just have laid there forever if we had let him. Not. Interested.

We started our annual tradition of Thomas the Turkey. Of course Danny free-handed this turkey. Of course he did. (Don't marry someone who is better at you than everything or it will destroy your self-esteem). Each night before family prayer & scriptures we would each choose something we were thankful for and stick a feather on Thomas. He turned out looking fab.

After some serious nudging on my part, Cole finally got started with Cub Scouts. He was so excited for his first activity that he felt like he needed to "study" on the way to his den mother's house. Too funny.

Cole tried to offer up some support with the whole tummy time business. It still wasn't a real hit.

We just thought he was scowling--now I know that he just can't see!

I kept my sanity alive by getting out of the house once in a while to visit with friends.

We even made it back to our old ward to see the Primary Program which I had promised I would return for. It was kind of torturous because we missed everyone so much and it still felt like home. Man, we had a good thing going. Everybody was lovin' on Caleb and was so excited for us. In our current ward, nobody really knows us or our "story" and how special it was that we were able to get pregnant again so it was really fun going back and feeling so loved.

I tried Sushi for the first time for Mary's birthday! This was a big deal to me because I really never had any desire to try it. I always felt like people who gushed about were trying so hard to be hipsters or trendy and I just didn't see the appeal in raw fish. I'm not too proud to say that I really liked it. Some were better than others but overall, I'd say I had a good experience. I wasn't a huge fan of the wasabi as you can see in the picture.

After a couple years without a yearly check-up (oopsie), Cole had his 8 year well-child check. Everything looked good. I'm such a nerd but I'm glad I snuck these pictures of Cole getting the "tickle test". He was definitely not expecting it and it cracked me up. Cole is hilarious at the doctor/dentist. He wants to be 100% informed of everything going on. What is this or that and what are they going to do to him and WHY are you doing what you're doing? I guess Cole came with me to a few too many NST's when I was pregnant because as soon as Dr. Johnson walked in, Cole said earnestly, "So should I just go ahead and take off all my clothes?" That gave Dr. Johnson a good laugh.

This one might be my favorite though. Cole was told to hold really still and take deep breaths. So what do we do when we are supposed to hold still and take deep breaths? We have a giggle attack come on, naturally. Cole couldn't keep it together. He ended up holding on to Dr. Johnson while he covered his mouth to keep from laughing out loud.

Cole also had his first pinewood derby and we found out about it with two days to spare so we bought a Batman kit from Hobby Lobby and he came in last place. He didn't even care. It was awesome. He was just happy to be there and have cupcakes afterwards.

Somehow he got red cupcake frosting in his hair. Is he two?

And we found a little tux for Caleb's blessing. I think this is the best picture we have of the whole thing. My mom adjusted the hem a tad but other than that--he was fitting into a 9 month tuxedo!
