Laura Graduates

Disclaimer: I stole all these photos from Scott's Flickr account. He gets the photo credit.

I can't believe Laura has graduated. I'm so glad I got to be a small part of it. We gathered at her school at 10:30 on Wednesday and watched 12 awesome kids graduate. The principal acknowledged that this was a bittersweet day for the parents because going to school has been such a huge part of Laura's development in so many aspects. It has been so good for her socially and there are so many great people that have helped her in so many ways. It's hard to believe that after the accident, a doctor said she probably wouldn't live through the night due to the brain damage and now she's is GRADUATED.

She has come so far and made so much progress. She was valedictorian of her cute graduating class and she got to give a "speech". Technology is truly amazing. Using her eyes, she was able to focus on images on the screen that would prompt a recorded voice {like Siri} to give her speech and she got to help write it. It was so clever and "sassy" as she referred to herself. She is known as the one who likes all the boys and I can't blame her. Even though she never opened her mouth to actually speak, I could tell that she definitely had a hand in writing it.

Laura is so loved at that school. I know it will be a huge adjustment for her to be done. It was a huge part of her life. I have never felt the Spirit at a graduation before. But the Spirit was present at this one. We were all very emotional. I knew that I was in the presence of Heavenly Father's choicest spirits. They have their future secured in the Celestial Kingdom and I want to make it back to live with them someday. There were some very enthusiastic graduates who couldn't contain their excitement and would occasionally shout out or clap, do the "I love you" sign in sign language and a variety of other things. It was awesome. They are so pure and so good and I was honestly just privileged to be in their presence.

Greg & Angie had to leave but they were there too.

I love that Laura and Amy get to graduate the same year.

Such a sweet story. I agree, it's awesome that Amy and Laura graduate the same year. Such special pictures. You came home that day with such an abundance of the 'Spirit'. I also look forward to 'meeting' Laura in some future day.
