Valentines Party
I volunteered to help out in Cole's class for their Valentine party because Danny was taking the day off and would could stay home with Caleb. He was so excited to have me there. The night before, we made his box and Valentines. It took a few hours but it was {mostly} fun. After he went to bed, I had to do some OCD reinforcing with tape because I'm mental. I'm going to try my hardest to not become one of "those" moms that take over projects for their kids. I might need a restraining order at some point.
I got to his classroom just as they were ready to start handing out valentines and was blown away by some of the boxes. This is serious business nowadays. When I was little, I remember covering a shoe box with some construction paper and heart stickers. Oh no. Not anymore.
After Valentines were handed out, we were supposed to do games but the mom who was in charge of games didn't show up. There was one couple there who had something planned and Mrs. C had bingo but I didn't bring anything since I was told it was taken care of. I quickly came up with some ideas and suggested we split the class into 3 groups and take 10 minutes per rotation. It worked out perfectly. I had the kids molding clay into valentine themed objects that I would give them and they'd get 60 seconds to make it and I would pick the best one. Then we did a simple relay race with straws and ping pong balls. Easy peasy. It's so funny how his teacher just lets me/almost expects me to take charge. Sometimes it's nice to have a fresh brain in the room who hasn't been trying to corral 32 hyper kids all day.
Pinterest helped Danny find some easy Valentines to fill the little boxes with while I was visiting teaching. Bless the inventor of Pinterest.
He just had to wear his matching creeper shirt. It was pretty dang cool.
