Interesting...

Many of you may not know that Danny and I have taken an interest in getting into shape, and eating better. I have to congratulate Danny for being down over 20 pounds! I'm not too far behind at about 15 pounds. Darn those men for losing weight more quickly :) But honestly...I'm very proud of him, and it's great that we're doing this together. Anyway, the point of this post isn't to brag about how cool we are for eating healthy and losing weight...I've started doing some research on what foods do certain things for your body, and started specifically to look at cancer-related searches. I found that there is a pretty long list of foods that will help you prevent cancer. There's no guarantees--but it's a form of prevention. Topping the list was chocolate, followed by pizza (and other Italian food). Cakes, cookies and muffins were third, then hamburgers, and last, seafood.

WHUUUUUUUUUUT? Am I the only one who thinks thats a little bit bizarre? If we were to consume those foods regularly--we'd all be as big as a barn...which can increase your chances to get cancer. So, before running out and buying a Symphony bar and a large pepperoni pizza--I kept reading, and found this list (in addition to what I've already mentioned):
  • Berries
  • Grapes and grape juice
  • Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower
  • Dark green, leafy vegetables
  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Soy
  • Pomegranate
  • Flaxseed
  • Salmon
  • Walnuts
That's more like it. However, I will say this: the next time I'm having a sweet tooth moment--at least I can happily eat some chocolate, and talk myself into having another piece. :)

Congrats on the weight loss guys. Just remember that as your home teacher I fully support your cause. And if that means confiscating your pizzas and other Italian foods...well...I'm willing to make that sacrifice.
That is awesome! Isn't it amazing how much food can affect our bodies in so many different ways? By the way Raelynn, in response to that questionnaire, my email is nordabarrowes@gmail.com. Email me, and I'll email you back. Oh, and can you send me copies of the pics of King from Cole's birthday party?

Oh, and one other thing, here is an interesting website about soy...it has totally made my husband paranoid about soy, but we don't ever eat it anyway. I don't know how true it is, but it seems legit. Sorry this is so long, have a good day!

Way to go! It's so great to be able to do it as a team. I can never get my husband to diet with me... I need the social support! Good for you, though. And now I don't feel so guilty about our pizza for dinner with symphony bars for dessert... (delicious after in the freezer) I am sure our chances of cancer are much less. I feel so healthy!
