Turkey Day Top Ten

2. I am thankful to be employed.

Danny and I are both extremely blessed to have jobs. I know this is a scary time right now with how unstable jobs can be and how many lay offs there are every single day. Danny has learned a lot from his job working for a mortgage company and he has seen how so many people get in over their heads and then lose their jobs and just can't make the payments on their homes. It's a scary situation to be in, I'm sure. Just the other day I was talking to a woman who was waiting to hear back about if her husband was going to be one of the 1,300 people being layed off with his company. They had just built a beautiful home after he received a nice promotion. I think that is one of my biggest fears. I think every day that we have an income is a blessing.

I was doing a search for "work at home mom" and this is one of the first images that came up on google. Are you serious? I just had to laugh. I have NEVER seen a mom keep a spotless kitchen, a happy baby & toddler AND keep a smile on her own face WHILE she is working from home. It's too funny. Usually I end up leaving Cole at the bottom of the stars bawling while I go into the office to work and my mom has to save the day for an hour until Danny comes home from work. And who actually has laptops these days? Those are so old school. Fine, I'm just jealous.

Seriously though--I get to work from home and I love it. It is fairly flexible and even though I have to work, I know I'm lucky to be able to do it from home. If I get off the phone and want to scream--I can :) I won't have any co-workers that will judge me...just a few family members...kidding. The other day I spoke with a woman who's husband was just diagnosed with cancer, he lost so much work from the chemotherapy that he also lost his job and she was going in for surgery the following day with ZERO insurance. It seems so unfair and I really felt for her. It is moments like those where I have to look at my family and remember what REALLY MATTERS.

It isn't cars, money, houses, shiny gifts, lights, trees or ornaments. It's that we have each other. Forever.

So true. Even though I totally get JUDGED for working, I'm just glad I have a job, and the dang bills get paid.

And, that picture is NUTS. Who would put a toddler next to their laptop with cereal and juice? She must be blogging, not working :)

Oh this one hit home too!

It is a scary time. But you are right cars, money, houses, shiny gifts, lights, trees and ornaments are distractions!

P.S. I emailed your sister in law. I cried at her response. It seems as though we are living the same life. Thank you so much for providing that support. I am about to go email her now. Maybe we can try to help eachother through all this.

great post rae. i get down a lot that we don't own a home - but until we are completely ready and able to feel secure, in any circumstance - it's so much better this way. these are CRAZY times. and seriously, who cares what you own? it's what you have to love. cheesy - but true.

als - hilar picture. i'm grateful that at least MY kitchen looks like that all the time.

Amen. I know I've said it before, but you always say it just right. And I hate that lady in that photo because I'm jealous too. Orange juice? Laptop? My life is so incomplete. lol!

Hey, does Danny have some hook ups for refinancing? We want to finish our basement SOON. email me if he can help us with that. The refinancing..not the basement, unless he has some skills with that too.

So true!! We have so much to be grateful for. Thanks for reminding us off all the important things. I am so grateful for the blessings our family are receiving at this crazy time.

I want to see the "after picture" of this stay at home mom. The orange juice spilled all over the lap top, the baby with a goose bump on his head from being dropped from his mom trying to save the lap top. That picture needs to be used in Relief Society lesson!!!
