I can't catch up!
I have so much going on in my life right now that I feel like I am always behind. Always. So naturally, now I've started a new short-term adventure that I'm really excited about.
I was approached by a friend in my ward about teaching a class for teenage girls who are pregnant and/or who already have babies. It's held at an alternative High School and it's a community course that the girls get school credit for. I can't talk specifics of course--but I'm just so excited to get to know these girls better. Being a teenager is so hard without being a single parent--and I can't imagine how hard it must be to add parenting on top of it. Especially because these girls don't have boyfriends or husbands who are supporting them in any way. What a challenge they have ahead of them...and hopefully I'll get to be a mentor and friend that they can trust.
It's an 8 week course and it's just Thursday nights...so even though it's just one more thing to add to my very full plate--I'm OK with that. It will be good experience for me and I know it'll help me in the future in being able to empathize with other girls who are going through the same thing. It has already been very enlightening.
Anyway, lots to say--but not lots of time. Hopefully soon!
Peace.
