Days 18-20
I've had some serious fun the last couple days. One small failure (which, in my humble opinion isn't really my fault) and lots of successes. First, let's get the failure out of the way.
I not only painted this, but I added some cute paper to cover up the holes. I covered the paper with mod podge and sprayed a finishing coat to make everything nice and glossy. Well, when we went to hang it--we noticed that it looked...crooked. I don't know if this picture really shows it--but sure enough, it's not cut exactly symmetrical and that will NOT do. Looks like it was just free-handed and that would drive me crazy. Back to the D.I. it goes.
On to happier news. I have improved the end table "situation" in the family room. The poor thing was so lame. I used stuff we already had around the house and got a cheap-o lamp from IKEA to cozy it up a bit. By the way, that Oquirrh Mountain Temple picture was taken by Danny's brother, Scott. Yeah, you should see the massive canvas version hanging in his parents' home. Gorgeous. Anywho, I see it as a solid improvement :)
I'm not gonna be modest. This was a ton of work. I've been scouring Cole's bedroom because his stuff was everywhere and even the last time I organized his stuff, I found more and more and more...so this was the most logical solution. He loves it! I tried to hang some string across the wall above the desk so he could hang some pictures that he's made but it wasn't strong enough and it collapsed. I might need some wire or something. He loves displaying his artwork and what better place than in his very own corner?

Next up: Cole's Craft Corner
I've had this idea for awhile but I knew it would take some serious organization to accomplish because the whole flippin' room had to be squared away. Well, I'm ALMOST there. I'm far enough that I've been able to almost finish what I envisioned. It's a little bland, but I'm noticing a trend in myself. I start out lame--and hopefully after staring at it for a while, I'll make some much needed improvements :)
Before (no joke)
After
By the way, we are going to let Cole help us paint his chairs and desk. I haven't had any problems with him coloring all over his chairs and table up until now b/c at least he wasn't coloring on the wall :)I knew I'd get some grief from Danny if I put "Cole's Craft Corner" because it seems slightly cheesy. Cole is really pushing for it though. Who doesn't like some alliteration?

Lastly, (I should have ended with the super cool one) I have been obsessed with labels and I just might label our toothbrushes if I don't stop...I've finally got all my acrylic paint and mod podge in the same place. Naturally, a label was in order.
P.S. I am also obsessed with my laminator. I print things off on nice white cardstock, laminate it, slap some Velcro on the back and attach it to what I'm labeling. That way, if I ever decide to put something else in the container--I just change the label and it comes off easily.
