Shoot-a-Bear Lake
We counted down the days until our weekend trip to Bear Lake with the Whites. It was our only summer vacation planned and dangit--we were excited. Cole prayed for fun and safety in Bear Lake for days before we even left. It's basically all he talked about. He had never been and I haven't been for about 25 years so we were pretty pumped! We're trying to save up PTO for Danny until the baby comes so we waited until he got home from work on Thursday and we headed out. Cole did pretty good in the car. I let him play with my Kindle for 1 hour each way. I figure he needs to experience a taste of how boring it is to sit in the car and stare out the window while listening to music :) Yes, I'm that kind of Mom...
Haleigh's family has connections to an awesome house on the Northeast side of the Lake with a private beach! We {Danny, Cole and I} were lucky enough to get to stay inside the house because I'm massively pregnant and there was no way I'd survive in a tent at this point. Dad, Mom, Laura, Scott & Amy had the other half of the house and it was a great setup. I was happy to be close to a flushing toilet with my nightly bathroom trips...everyone else was in tents or a trailer outside.
The "shoe house" which is next to the Three Bears House. Very...interesting architecture. We all joked that the inside was probably pretty stinky. After all, it is a shoe.
We had all the meals divided up into families and it worked great. There was always something yummy to eat and I still managed to keep my sugars in check the entire weekend while not missing out.
The weather was perfect. It was overcast a lot of the time but there was still time to enjoy the lake and the sunshine. I guess it might not have been perfect from the perspective of someone who slept in a tent but from my experience, it was lovely. Nice and cool.
We had such a good time and even though I was ready to get back to my bed and a hot shower, I was so sad to leave our little getaway from reality. I hope we can go back again and again because I firmly believe that the times you make some of the best memories with the people you love--is on vacation. And in the words of Ellie..."I can eat what I want, I can do what I want...vacation.is.fabulous!"

And other indoor fun
It wouldn't be Bear Lake if we didn't stop off for some raspberry shakes. {Danny and I cheated and shared a Rootbeer shake and it was fab}.
