Showered with love

The Miller ladies threw a fabulous baby shower for both Amanda and I! It's been fun to be pregnant alongside Amanda for most of the time. Of course now that she has her baby, I'm super jealous of how good she already looks post-baby but I'm trying to be patient. I know our little guy will be here soon.

We had a great turn out and even though this pictures aren't great, they will document for our son that we did in fact have a shower and that people did show up :)

Danny did a cake for the shower and I was so happy with how it turned out. We wanted something that that would work for a boy and a girl for obvious reasons. Danny stayed up until ridiculous hours to get it done and I made sure he knew I didn't need a birthday cake on top of the shower cake {the shower was on my birthday}. He put a ton of work into the cake and it was a hit. I don't think many people understand how much work goes into a creation like this but I can promise you that I would have never paid someone what the cake was actually worth because I'm too cheap. Thank goodness my husband is a rockstar.

A follow-up to our "Kissing Cousins" pic
I know a lot of people enjoy seeing pictures of "the process" so here are a few:

Top: Chocolate       Bottom: Vanilla

I'm a moron and was gently handling the fondant tree before it was fully dry so it cracked and then broke. I joked that Danny couldn't yell at me since it was my birthday {as if he would have anyway}. So when we got to Mae's, we had to get creative. heh. This is Danny's bed head from staying up until the wee hours of the morning and then working on the cake up until the second we walked out the door to the shower.

Cutting the cake was sad but it was there to eat so after putting it off for long enough--we dug in.

And now for the proof that there were people there to actually EAT the cake:

Moms with young babes
I realize this is a horrific picture of me...but it's the only one of me opening gifts so I'm chucking my pride out the window. Plus, if you follow this blog at all, you've seen the series, "Why Didn't Anyone Tell Me" and this can't be worse than any of those :)

It was such a fun time and it was nice to share the spotlight with Amanda and Callie. Also, the food was DELISH. I have the best sisters-in-law.

I wish I was a billionaire so I could pay your talented husband a bazillions dollars to make cakes for every event in my life. I would have to really pay him well though so that he wouldn't mind that I lied to everyone and tell them that I was the super cake decorator. And had done it all myself.

He's really amazing.

This is...I dare say..THE best cake he's ever done.
