Let's talk about Amerian Idol
I know this is getting down to the wire, and it's so funny how everybody has their own opinions (very STRONG ones, at that) about this show...and since I'm one of them, and this is MY blog, and you're obviously reading this--you get to read mine. Let's start from the top: Phil. I've always liked Phil. He's normal, down to earth and likeable. I don't care if he's bald or has big ears...he can sing. And he totally rocked out to Bon Jovi tonight so that was fun. I hope he stays another week, but I'm nervous with 2 going home tomorrow. I don't know if America likes him as much as I do. Who went next? Jordin. Ahh, the 17 year old gold mine. She'll be famous, she'll get a record deal, and she better finish high school. I'm not worried about her at all. Yeah Bon Jovi night wasn't her best, and she struggled--but I'm still a Jordin fan. Although, watching her perform tonight with a Mirgraine was a little too much for me. (I had the volume down, cut me some slack). I'll be ticked if she goes home. Blake. Simon was spot on when he said that half of the audience would like the performance, and half of the audience wouldn't like it. I personally hated it. How do you mess with that song? Whuuuuuuuuuuuut. I've really liked Blake so far, but I did NOT like his performance tonight. Yuck. However, I do think he's talented. Lakisha. I've been getting SO bored with her performances, she has about put me to sleep with her typical "gospel" sounding songs and her more than revealing clothing...I've just been put off by her. She was good tonight though. I thoroughly enjoyed it...and about fell off the couch (well, rolled off the couch because I was laying down) when Simon kissed her. I think this whole "Idol Gives Back" might have just made his heart grow a little bit bigger, like the grinch who tried to steal Christmas. Maybe he's not so bad after all...no, he is. :) Back to my topic: Chris. Hmmmm. I'm a fence sitter at this point. I think he'll be going home tomorrow night. I like him, and I do think he's got talent, but this was a tough week in general, and I don't know if he really "hit it out of the ballpark". Melinda. I've always liked her, and I don't care if she has a big nose (honestly, some people are CRUEL)--she's got skills...big time skills. My only hangup with her is that I don't think I'd buy her album when it's released, and I would totally buy an album by Phil or Jordin...so that's my only issue. But PUUULEASE. We all know she can sing, and along with Jordin, she'll be swimming in a pool of liquid gold soon enough, so I'm not worried about her either. And you know what? I like that she doesn't know the "rock on" sign...because I didn't either.
Okay, I feel so much better getting that off my chest. Don't ask me about Sanjaya or what I think about him. He's gone. Get over it.
