The Best Kind of Payday

A little over a year ago I met Brittany. I was assigned to be her Visiting Teacher. She was not active, nor had any desire to be at that time. I remember it was quite a process getting to arrange a time to actually visit with her. I was given her dad's ex-girlfriend's phone number, then her dad's number, and I finally tracked her down. The first time we met, I felt there was something special about her. I asked her how much she knew about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She said "not much". She also told me she wasn't a "religious" person--but I felt prompted to invite her to hear the missionary discussions so she'd know more about the church she was a member of. She said she'd give it a try. she wanted to be open-minded and at least hear it out.

The rest is history. She took the missionary discussions, became active in church, received her patriarchal blessing, gave a talk in church, received a calling in the Primary, got a temple recommend, met a wonderful guy, got engaged, and today--she was sealed to Anthony for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. It has been so awesome to be with Brittany every step of the way on her journey.

Last week I had to opportunity of escorting her through the temple when she received her endowment. It has been incredible for me to be a part of this. I know that from one simple prompting--her life changed forever. I know it isn't anything I did, but that I was able to be an instrument in the Lord's hands because Brittany was ready to hear the truth and embrace it.

Since today is February 29th, they were interviewed by Channel 5 news, and were on the 6:00 news! The story was about couples who choose to be married on a leap year. Not many people can say that they were on the news on their wedding day!

Brittany, thank you for being the wonderful, caring, beautiful person that you are. It has truly been an inspiration to watch you transform before my very eyes. You were positively radiant today. I love you!
