Can it be done?

A good friend of mine participated in a "Media Fast" a while ago. This basically consisted of her not using the computer, TV or other forms of media for an entire week. It was a challenge from a former Stake President...and ever since I read her post about it--I've been curious. Could I do it? Do I have what it takes? It seems like the internet can suck you in. It can monopolize your time (even if you are doing necessary things like paying bills, etc.). The truth is, I remember life before the internet and I was still happy and plenty busy! The thought of even attempting this Media drought is a big deal for me, since I am a techy at heart. I love all things to do with technology. You probably all know that from reading my blog. But I am always up for a challenge...and a challenge this will be! I've been thinking about it for a while now and I want to try it. I am hoping that I'll get more done around the house, spend more quality time with Cole, be better able to magnify my calling and not waste so much time obsessing about things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Will my knowledge of American Idol contestants really get me into the Celestial Kingdom? Yeah, I probably shouldn't even go there. While trying to think about what to eliminate in my life--I've decided that I don't think it's that bad for Cole to watch 2 half hour shows a day (Super Why and Word World) because they are really educational and really reinforces what he is learning about letters, shapes, numbers, etc. Not 2 1/2 hours. Two half hour shows. As for me-I'll still listen to music but my computer will basically serve one purpose for the next week: to play iTunes. Having said this--I am not going to start living an Amish lifestyle, and I'll still answer the phone (unless it's quiet time)...but I won't be checking in for a while. I am actually looking forward to what the next week will be like. You'll see me back here next Wednesday! Have a great week!
