DAVE RAMSEY LIVE--SATURDAY
Danny and I were given the opportunity to attend a live event with Dave Ramsey at the E-center on Saturday. I don't want to be dramatic, but I think it might have changed our lives :) But seriously--it was awesome. I can't believe I'd never really heard of Dave Ramsey until his name started popping up here and there over the past year. He is the the MAN. It was inspiring for us to hear his story and see how far he has come. (From being a young millionaire, to losing it all and then working his way back up to being a multi-millionaire). Not that my goal in life is to have millions of dollars, but I won't fight it.
Dave's ideas are practical. They are simple. They work. We've been reading the Total Money Makeover to get ready for the event and it has been a real eye opener. It made me realize how important it is to teach my child(ren) about money at a very young age, and how credit cards really are evil. It's so true that we live in a day and age of instant gratification. I love his tagline: If you live like no one else, LATER you will live like no one else.
He's a great entertainer and the time flew by. He even showed little clips of What About Bob (to help explain his "Baby Steps") and even a clip of SNL that had me cracking up. It's on Danny's blog too:

I think more than anything it gave me hope. It made me realize that we don't have to sit in debt our whole lives and let things happen to US. But that we need to be proactive and get up and make things happen. We are both really motivated now to get started on baby step #1 and quickly get to #2.
Hopefully it won't be long before we can proudly exclaim this:
