The Fast is Over let the Eating Begin

OK the truth is that I started using the internet again on Monday night. I had some things to do that I had to get done ASAP and the internet was the fastest (and in one case) the only way to get it done. I have never in my life been so grateful for the internet as I have been since not using it. I wish I had some spiritual and inspriring story to share with you about how going a week without the internet changed my life. But it didn't. More than anything I found myself getting annoyed. I couldn't check our bank balance to see if certain checks had cleared, I couldn't look up a certain recipe I had been wanting to try, I couldn't keep in touch with certain long distance friends (because we have a landline with no long distance minutes) and Danny takes the cell phone to work, and I could look up a code to get a free video from RedBox. Having said that...it wasn't that bad either. I got some great projects done, did some deep cleaning (the floor under our stove was DISGUSTING) and I did spend more quality time with Cole and get some great ideas for Primary. So, like I said before--it wasn't a miraculous week of introspection and change, but it was really interesting to see how many times a day I used the internet. I also picked a terrible time to do the fast because on Friday Val and I went downtown to the Gateway to see David Archuleta. (My next post). I had to share some of the pictures we took--so I cheated then, too. And you know I watched my 3 shows. But that was it. So, it was a very MODIFIED media fast, but I don't feel guilty. I wasn't even challenged to do it (by anyone but myself) and I think I did a really good job. So, hurray for me--now lets' get on to the good stuff.
