Cole's going to be a brother!

To a tomato plant. I got this little lady on Mother's Day at church and was actually pretty excited. We don't have ANY place to put it, but tomato plants can grow inside if they get enough sun (I heard). It starting drying out pretty bad yesterday because it was still in the dinky little plastic cup they gave it to us in. So today I used some of our grocery money (heh) to buy some soil and a little pot for it. I named the plant Tommy because I was pretty sure Cole wanted a brother. However, after thinking about it some more, I've changed the name to Thomasina. I think she's a girl--and I've always wanted a daughter. I can't wait to gobble of the fruits of this little labor. My mom has always had a very green thumb and someday I want to have a garden and be more self sufficient. Baby steps, I guess.

Anyway, Thomasina is the perfect child. All she wants is sun and water. She never throws fits, never embarrasses me in public (YET) and is a very good listener. Welcome to the family, Little T.

That's it. Not cool. When you guys really do have your next kid, I'm going to make sure he calls you both Groin instead of Mama and Dada.

OK friends--it was a good natured joke...no hating allowed. Some resentment, perhaps. But no hating.

THAT IS THE SECOND false alarm I've read today. A new puppy and a tomato plant? SERIOUSLY? You and my friend Kim need a stern talking to.

...and I guess congratulations on your new leafy addition.

Congrats! Tomato plants are so much easier to grow that babies, and thank goodness you won't have to take progesterone pills to keep it growing (and that you don't have to nurse the tomatoes when they are done...right?)

I saw the picture before reading the title, so I wasn't freaking out! Although, that's a lovely name you and Danny will have if Dave has anything to say about it :) You crack me up. Hopefully you get some nice juicy tomatoes from Cole's little sister.

You punk, gettin me all excited like that. Not that I even know Cole, but his pictures are so fun to look at I can only imagine if there were two little Colesitos. Or a Colesita, whatever. Babies are cool though, even if they're plants, I guess. Speaking of babies, I might be getting a kitten for my birthday next week. Boo-yah.

wow, that was a shocker! Then I saw the picture and felt dumb....

FYI, I heard that when the yellow flowers come on, the plant should be outside so it can be cross polinated. I have no idea though!

Nothing tastes as great as a tomato from your own garden. I love summer for that reason alone.
Best of luck to you and your developing green thumb.
love your darling little garden baby. and love your new header pic and title. way to keep your blog fresh, rae.
