This week
Cole helped Dad change a flat tire. He wasn't too happy about it at first but we coaxed him into helping out. He's gotta know these kinds of things. I can barely change a flat (as embarrassed as I am to say that). I'm sure I could do it if I had to...but I might have to use my cell phone to make a phone call...
One thing Cole was happy about was the TV, DVD and remote control he made. He set up a couch in his room and was so proud. I love how creative he is and that he finds joy in making things like this. It was all his idea. Such a simple, simple thing but he was so pumped about it.
I got an email from one of my favorite mission companions and we met up at Liberty Park for lunch and visiting. The kids got a free lunch through some school lunch program which was pretty rad. I don't even remember the last time I was at Liberty Park and they've made some cool upgrades. Including a splash pad.
It was so fun visiting with "Hermana Chambers" (she'll always be Hna. Chambers to me, even though her first name is Courtney and she's married now). We had a great time visiting and we definitely won't wait so long before our next get together. Chambers was such a light to me at a hard time in my mission. My first companion was really hard to "get". She told me I worked too hard and that other sisters would resent that about me. (Seriously). Then Chambers came along and we had six blissful weeks together before I killed her off and sent her home to the states. I learned a lot from her and we both worked our tails off. It felt good.
Danny had a "Chopped" competition at work (like the Food Network) and he was a team captain. They were given a list of foods that had to be used and he put himself in charge of the dessert. I wasn't surprised that his dessert won. They had to incorporate almond milk, strawberries and pockey sticks. This is what they came up with. It was Danny's idea, of course and I think it turned out superbly. I only wish I could have tasted it. They made a parfait of chocolate cake, pudding using the almond milk), crushed whoppers and the garnishes. Yum.
An exchange between Danny and I:
Brian, Ethan, Rylan, Melissa, Scott, Spencer, Owen and Anna came over on Saturday to help with getting things ready for a big yard sale this coming weekend. My parents have decided that it's time to move into a safer home without stairs (much to the relief of all of us kids) and a yard sale is a big part of the moving process. Cole took some time to read to his cousins...
While everyone else got to work on the cold storage area and the garage. Scott and Melissa helped Dad whip the garage into shape. It looks so much better now but the only picture I have of the garage has Scott flipping off the camera so to keep this blog PG rated, I'm keeping it off :)
Depending on when the house is listed and sold...we may end up homeless if they move before us. No big deal...
