Recent and hilarious happs

Caleb loves my dad. He loves his deep, loud voice and his scratchy beard. Here is proof. I took out my phone during church to take these pictures because HOLY cow it was funny. He kept smothering his face into the scratchiness!

And then stroking it.

Caleb can sort of hold his own bottle. Usually I hold him because I enjoy that time with him but sometimes it's just awesome that he can sort of feed himself.

I got my hair done and sent this pic to Danny. I love it. Lindsay's my girl.

Danny has started doing this:

I was sort of festive this year for St. Patrick's Day. Cole didn't even want his name on his pancake so he made me scrape it off. I could have gone to less trouble and he wouldn't have even cared. Makes me laugh to think that we stress out so much about making holidays fun for our kids. Well, not everyone stresses about it but I know I'm trying to chill out about it all. I genuinely like to do fun things like this and it brings me joy to watch Cole {and hopefully Caleb} enjoy the little things. It's easy to go overboard though.

That night Cole suggested we set up a Leprechaun trap. We hesitated because it was already getting late but we rigged something together quickly but dangit, of course wedidn't catch him before he could pull one over on us. Cole was completely spooked. At first it was kind of cute and Danny was recording his reaction but I quickly saw that he was beyond nervous about it. He wouldn't touch his shoes that were near the trap because he was afraid a Leprechaun would jump out and try to hurt him! Whuuut. He was scared and it wasn't worth it to me so I blurted out that I didn't even believe in Leprechauns. He acted stunned. I suggested that maybe Dad had set the trap off just to trick us both. I told Cole to get in his pajamas and I gave Danny a heads up that we needed to tell Cole the truth because it was getting out of control. We went back and forth about how much to tell him because we figured it would raise all sorts of questions about other fictional beings in his life...

Cole came into our room and confronted Danny about setting off the trap and he admitted that he did. He seemed relieved but was almost in tears about it. Then the questions came. He asked about a couple years ago and if we had set the trap off back then too {easy on his memory}. We said that we had done it. He left the room to brush his teeth and when he came back, he admitted that he was sort of mad at us. We tried to explain that it was all in good fun and I could tell that in a small way he felt betrayed. Then came the question of Santa. Danny has always liked the idea that if you don't believe in Santa, you don't get presents from him so that is kind of the direction we took it. Cole laughed and said something about  not questioning it then because he wanted presents. After he went to bed, Danny and I talked about how we do want to have a discussion with Cole about Santa but we want to know exactly what to say and how to say it. I think it's a delicate subject and I remember how I felt when I learned what was going on. I think on some level every kid feels kind of bad or shocked about it. Maybe some don't. But in the end, most will continue the tradition because it brings a lot of magic in such a small period of their childrens' lives. Regardless of what others choose to do, I have never regretted our decision to incorporate Santa into his life. Anywho...getting way off track. So, that discussion needs to happen.

Bubbers is sitting up more and more on his own.

And is eating solid foods like a champ. So far, we've only ventured into rice cereal, green beans and peas.

I  made almond butter and was really happy with it. It's much healthier than peanut butter and super easy to make. Too bad almonds are so expensive.
