Hogle Zoo Lights

The Thursday before Christmas we joined 3 million other Utahns at Hogle Zoo. We had discounted tickets that were only good for certain days and we thought a Thursday would be a pretty safe bet. Good thing we aren't gamblers--we'd be broke. It was packed to the brim. I don't mind the zoo when the animals are awake and active but there was literally nothing going on animal-wise. After thinking about it, we decided that the point of the Zoo Lights isn't to actually enjoy the animals and the lights. It isn't a package deal. You go for the lights. That's it.

We went a couple years ago on Christmas Eve with Danny's family and it was pretty lame {not his fam, obv} but I think our expectations were too high.

It was freezing. FREEZING. Probably the coldest I've been all winter. Thank goodness there were a few places to warm up.

We had Caleb seriously bundled in his little stroller. He kept tearing off his glasses for some reason and I just love the picture with Danny carrying him on his shoulders. Now that's a happy kid. Crossed eyes and all :)

The moral of the story: When you go to Zoo Lights, if you go with only the expectations to enjoy the lights and maybe grab some hot cocoa, you'll have a grand old time.
